Lunch

Postby Jofa Guy » Wed Apr 22, 2015 11:31 pm

Lol I used to work there, I LOATHE unlimited soup and salad. People would come in with one person "Not eating" and would ask for a million refills so they both can eat for free at 7.95. Horrible horrible place

Edit: I don't blame the people, they're smart for taking advantage of eating for free but it just sucked as a server. I wouldn't do that to someone but I can't blame some of the customers for taking advantage
You will be happy to know that I ordered calamari (they were out of shrimp...... at 1:15 pm......) and mooched salad, but I tipped my server as if soup & salad was on my ticket.
You have bad luck at restaurants, wasn't it you who took forever to get your good at a work outing? Lol

I work my ass of for my tips so if the service sucked, I wouldn't blame you not tipping for the effort produced.

I just hate it when our incompetent cooks can't get anything right (validated in this case they're truly awful) and it gets taken out on me. I'll even stop to say "I'm not taking this out, it's a well done steak and I see blood on the plate" they'll just look at me and laugh and it's total bs. Rant over

Paraphrasing Freddy Rumsen, too bad it wasn't a southern gas station 8-)

I have to run an errand today, so I'm going off campus. Popeye's, or Zankou Chicken? (Zankou is a Lebanese place, and kind of a local institution)

That is really smart to do! Wish I had thought of that. However I would never tip someone based on a discount, self imposed or otherwise. I was brought up to think that's rude. My mother always says, " If you can't afford to pay, stay in. "

But to balance it out she says racist things against Obama.

I think the only time it is maybe acceptable is of your waiter treats your husband like he doesn't exist and forgets to take his order, doesn't ask for specifics and completely ignores him while you order desert and forgets to pack up food you paid for. It's not like we are in France!
And I'm pretty sure we tipped him anyway.

I worked at a country club one summer during college. They were not allowed to tip. So frustrating!

Yup that would be very frustrating. Serving tables isn't hard if you have a decent work ethic and know what questions to ask. I try not to even give the wives too much attention because usually the husband is paying. Silly people

It's always in the last place you look...maybe I'll find a ShopRite near me and see if they have it. My local one did not, Trader Joe's did not, some little froo-froo hipster, green thumb nonsense store only had it pickled, a couple produce places didn't have it...i'll look up a close ShopRite, thanks...

Awww Shoprite! I miss Wegmans.

I tried to make lunch but it took so long it ended up being dinner.

Anyway, it was Chicken Vindaloo.

Are you saying you are looking for fresh okra?
If that is what you are saying then I know that East Indian grocery stores have it as Indians eat it a lot.
Sometimes they have it frozen but that can be slimy and icky.
(Unless you like that then. ..yay)
