Your life is worth Penn Medicine.

Related, their latest commercial is one of the worst ones ever created:

Imagine that playing, only louder, on TV. Awful.
The message of that ad is pretty great. I especially like how they called out that it's been in development for 15 years. But yeah, the choice to use just the awful room tone? Rough.

What an incentive from the Flyers though. Hopefully we see more of that.

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to specifically. Everything else was fine. Even worse in surround sound.

Fauci dipping his little plastic spoon into the baby food and giving everyone a snack.

But he's making a clear, important point. I think maybe he should have taken up more of these opportunities last year, but alas. What could he have possibly done other than risk losing his job for a few months, save 5 figures worth of humans and then get easily rehired later.

No one, including servers, had masks on and there were no signs up or social distancing.

It was like dining pre-covid.

As David Leonhardt over at The New York Times makes clear today, Walensky and her agency are wildly overstating the risks of getting infected outdoors. As he explains:

That [10 percent] benchmark "seems to be a huge exaggeration," as Dr. Muge Cevik, a virologist at the University of St. Andrews, said. In truth, the share of transmission that has occurred outdoors seems to be below 1 percent and may be below 0.1 percent, multiple epidemiologists told me. The rare outdoor transmission that has happened almost all seems to have involved crowded places or close conversation.

Saying that less than 10 percent of Covid transmission occurs outdoors is akin to saying that sharks attack fewer than 20,000 swimmers a year. (The actual worldwide number is around 150.) It's both true and deceiving.…

These recommendations would be more grounded in science if anywhere close to 10 percent of Covid transmission were occurring outdoors. But it is not. There is not a single documented Covid infection anywhere in the world from casual outdoor interactions, such as walking past someone on a street or eating at a nearby table.

This is an interesting point to make, because in no calendar year since the International Shark Attack File was created in 1960 have global unprovoked shark attacks in the wild topped 100.

Atleast as masks come off, we'll have a good idea who's who, on the people still on the other side of the fence.

I remember that Demetri Martin bit about liking rainbows but the gay community stole it to make it a symbol. I feel the same way with masks a bit now. I don't want to wear them, but I don't want people to think I'm one of those looney dudes either.

My wife and I were talking about this the other day, with regards to vacation. If vaccinated people can skip the masks on the resort, etc., we'd probably still wear them so that we don't have to deal with any nonsense.

There's a good deal of tension in Maui right now with locals getting pissed about visitors ignoring mask mandates and ****, so we're just trying to do our part for this summer. I expect this to completely be irrelevant by next summer's trip.
