COVID-19
I've had all of the symptoms recently. Happened to have a doctor's appointment today and they gave me the test. Came back negative.

COVID-19
I can't describe the way I feel when I take it but it's not pleasant. Just out of sorts. But if I am dealing with a crushing sinus headache, it works.Mucinex doesn't react well with my body. I took it last week with my upper respiratory infection and it dehydrated me to a dangerous level. this was the second time I've had that happen. I thought the first time was a fluke.Mucinex doesn't work. Are you taking any medications? I take mucinex when I have sinus issues and it often makes my nose bleed

Guaifenesin thins mucus for lack of a more scientific explanation. So just the straight blue box is often prescribed for sinus infections and the like just to help drain the sinuses. It also does the same for mucus in your lungs, which is the reason you can cough so much up with it.
Mucinex-D contains psuedophedrine which helps narrow nasal blood vessels (reducing pressure/swelling). So you're getting a two-fold effect of thinning mucus and increasing "area" in your sinuses. That also results in higher blood pressure though (which beside being a heart risk, can also cause bloody noses).
Meanwhile, phenylephrine works as a nasal spray, but is ineffective at reaching the sinuses when ingested (that's what the news last week was about).
When the box of Mucinex says to take with a full glass of water, they're not kidding. You have to drastically increase your fluid intake or you won't get much benefit and will dehydrate yourself.
I'm not a doctor, but have dealt with chronic sinus pain my whole life and had to sleep in COVID dungeon basement last night instead of a Holiday Inn.

There's an updated booster for both Moderna and Pfizer, yes. As for testing, I'd still test if you feel like you picked up something. Zero effort, and tests are free if you grabbed them from USPS back in the day.

They’re doing another round of free tests. https://www.covid.gov/tests

It would determine whether or not you have covid so the question is does the answer to that question have any importance to you

Didn't say that. The cure for 99% of covid cases is resting in place. Happens to be the same cure for many respiratory illnesses in fact

Yeah in that instance I'd test for sure. That would be a situation where the knowledge of whether or not you have covid would indeed have importance.
Although people get pretty pissed if you show up anywhere with the sniffles these days. Nasty work email went out the other day about it

Yeah, I recognize that’s a unique situation. A month ago my wife got COVID on a Thursday when I had to leave that next Monday. I ended up just taking a test, then staying at my mom’s.Yeah in that instance I'd test for sure. That would be a situation where the knowledge of whether or not you have covid would indeed have importance.

So, I definitely like having the tests available when I have a known exposure.
But on just random day that I feel sick, I’m not going to rush to take a test, just wfh
