I think geno is overstating the sentiment here. Either way, I’m glad they’ve started the vaccination process.

It wasn't my intent to overstate anything, although I can completely understand why it looks like that. I just don't agree with the level of hate, and the manifestation of that hate into actively hoping/wishing for death and suffering...at least for everyone that isn't vaxxed. No nuance, no circumstances, no reasonable hesitancy. Black and white.

Kinda? Maybe? I get your point. I acknowledged early on that this specific scenario was in no way representative of the 80 million unvaxxed. It's just one that has given me pause when I think about who makes up these 80 million. And regardless of why people are unvaxxed, I don't want them to die. Now, would there be a different level of empathy depending on circumstances? Sure...but that makes my mind seem more grey than black and white. I dunno...

What caused me to even say anything was what some were expressing in this thread. You aren't vaxxed? You deserve to die or suffer. That's as black and white as it gets. I just disagree with that mindset and tried to explain why...give a personal example.

I don’t recall anybody wishing death on your coworker or his wife. I do recall people saying they were being dumb though. Which I still believe they were. Good on them for finally getting the vaccine. They don’t deserve that much praise though considering it’s mid September and we’ve known for a very long time that the vaccine is safe.

I really hate singling you out because I actually love your honesty when posting, even if I don't always agree with what your posting, and this post could be directed at a bunch of different people...

That's the thing though. If you believe the first statement, you believe the second one. If you don't believe the second one, then you don't believe the first.

I mean it when I say **** everybody who is unvaxxed for political or religious reasons. A better way to say that is **** everybody who is unvaxxed for any reason other than legit medical concerns. That goes for any race, age, political affiliation, income , etc etc. I haven’t wished death on anyone. It’s more “oh another outspoken antivax idiot died? Oh well. What time does Ohio State play today?” If you’re unvaccinated (for non-medical reasons) and you either die or have severe illness to the point of hospitalization, I have zero sympathy.

But really…there are people who generally don’t give a sh*t about their own life or anyone else’s. It’s not like these people ever even cared about COVID to begin with. It’s just an extension of y’all Qaeda bum rushing state houses because they couldn’t get haircuts.

And they’re the same people who don’t care when schools get shot up, because it would be too inconvenient to change anything about their favorite toys. Or the ones who are fine with the earth melting because life is a hunk of sh*t for them and their families to begin with, so it’s a big whatever to climate change.

All intertwined. Just a bunch of people that society left behind and now they’re cool with watching it burn.

The Daily Show had a short segment on it the other day and it was hilarious. The guy speaking was great. They then had the health minister on to reinforce the fact that vaccines are safe and effective.
