COVID-19
There have been a number of stories recently on how much better school districts with mask mandates are doing compared to those that have none in terms of covid positive cases. We all want our kids to go to school and be safe, right? And masks help make that possible, no? End of story.

1. What lockdowns? No. Tomas is a realistic person who knows that a certain part of population will not get vaccinated no matter what. If we understand that fact, it is better not to restrict those people by lockdowns, mask mandates, etc. and instead let them close the loophole to herd immunity ASAP by getting infected quickly, while removing the bad players (those with the highest mass infection potential first). The combination of infection and vaccinations works the best for the goal of creating safe community.Tomas is promoting a theory that herd immunity throquickly and ection is better than vaccinations.
2. We should limit mask mandates to risky places, like schools.
Latvia just announced lockdown yesterday. Four freaking weeks.
And could not disagree more on masks in schools.
Are you factoring in hospitals being overwhelmed?

What's safe? We've had this discussion; kids are a blip on the COVID radar, both in terms of transmission and harm to the infected child. There have been a number of stories recently on how much better school districts with mask mandates are doing compared to those that have none in terms of covid positive cases. We all want our kids to go to school and be safe, right? As for the teachers, they've had ample time to get fully vaccinated. If we're doing away with masks everywhere else, they're at no more risk in school than anywhere else considering how small the vector is wrt children.

Most teachers around here got the J&J, which offers less protection. They are getting constantly exposed and hoping that they don't get infected. What's safe? How many folks here have had their boosters? I'm thinking of scheduling at Giant Iggle. Since I live in Somerset Hell, they have about 50 open appointments every day.

So I'm actually wondering if I need to hold off on the booster? Or do I need it as urgently now that I've had COVID PLUS Vaccination?
I'm thinking I'll get it done ASAP, but I've also wondered if I really need to.

Which did you receive initially? I'm Team Moderna and (I guess) Moderna's not officially approved for a booster yet. Or maybe it is for fatties like me.Scheduled for next ThursdayHow many folks here have had their boosters? I'm thinking of scheduling at Giant Iggle. My daughter's pediatrician posted on FB the other day that they anticipate Moderna being approved in the next week or so, and are already scheduling booster appointments for Oct 25+. I'm going to just wait and have mine done at CVS nearby since it's more convenient.Which did you receive initially? I'm Team Moderna and (I guess) Moderna's not officially approved for a booster yet. Basically. Here's the list of medical conditions that'll get you approved for a booster: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... I still fall under "high risk profession" since I work in healthcare.

Thanks for the info! I might wait until the first week in Nov, just in case I feel crappy for a day or so afterward. Don't want to ruin Halloween, ha.

Locally, anyone can get it. I believe AHN is accepting any and all patients who had Pfizer 6+ months prior and are administering flu shot and booster togetherIt's still just immunocompromised and high risk professions, right? How many folks here have had their boosters?
