I doubt we'll ever know, but they also went into crazy lockdowns. Chaining apartment doors closed, every single person wearing masks, etc. I'd still bet that they have fewer deaths than we do because of the mask wearing alone.

I would suspect it's more, but China was unafraid to shut entire cities down early on and keep people literally locked inside their homes. Either way, I bet it's much much higher than 5K.

I think I'd be comfortable assuming 5 figures, but not 6 - and only because they seemed to start their heavy-handed approach very quickly. But if we find out it's truly 6 figures, I wouldn't question it.

I'm not gonna do the math but if you extrapolate the population sizes and say China had half the percentage of deaths the US had they would still have more than the US. I think. Math is hard.
