That makes sense.
One reason is disproportionate numbers of people who are themselves or in a household with Dreamers. They aren't likely to inject themselves into the healthcare system, generally, because of fears of exposing themselves to authorities. It isn't strictly a vaccine thing.

It goes well beyond the unvaccinated. I know several double vaccinated individuals who are pretty sick currently.

Yeah but the statistical likelyhood of getting very sick IE...needing to go to the hospital or ER if you are fully vaccinated is slim to none.It goes well beyond the unvaccinated. I know several double vaccinated individuals who are pretty sick currently.
It's way more likely if you aren't vaccinated. So it really doesn't go beyond the unvaccinated. They are the problem. Period.

The unvaccinated population in the USA has minimal impact on variantsYes. And the more people vaccinated, the less variants

I've heard some prominent right-wing political figures asking people to get vaccinated: Hannity, Ben Shapiro (soft of lol), Moscow Mitch. That's a good sign.

In terms of quantity of different variants? sure. In terms of the quantity of those sick with a new variant? Unvaccinated have a big impact on spread. The unvaccinated population in the USA has minimal impact on variantsYes. And the more people vaccinated, the less variants

COVID-19 vaccines dampen genomic diversity of SARS-CoV-2: Unvaccinated patients exhibit more antigenic mutational variance
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101 ... XeBIm5Nfqo
We report that unvaccinated patients share significantly more genomic mutational similarity (particularly B-cell epitope mutations) to the variants of concern than the breakthrough infection patients. This study demonstrates that mass vaccination may serve as an antigenic impediment to the evolution of fitter and more transmissive SARS-CoV-2 variants, emphasizing the urgent need to stem vaccine hesitancy as a key step to mitigate the global burden of COVID-19.
. . .
This study presents the first known evidence that COVID19 vaccines are fundamentally restricting the evolutionary and antigenic escape pathways accessible to SARS-CoV-2. The societal benefit of mass vaccination may consequently go far beyond the widely reported mitigation of SARS-CoV-2 infection risk and amelioration of community transmission, to include stemming of rampant viral evolution.
This study concluded that even when vaccinated people get breakthrough infections, the Covid viruses they are putting out are significantly less genetically diverse than the viruses produced by an infection in an unvaccinated person. The lower mutation level means that a vaccinated person is much less likely than an unvaccinated person to be coughing out a new mutant that may be more virulent or "escape" the current vaccines. Vaccination reduces the potential for new variants, and therefore vaccination absolutely has an impact on variants.

All of the recent reports of "breakthrough" are the worst possible thing that could happen. Unvaxxed folks already don't think covid is a big deal, and now they see double vaxxed folks getting covid. There's no way they're getting vaccinated after this. I understand the media has an obligation to report this news, but this it's pretty much ruined vaccination efforts.

I didn’t even bother putting my name in for psu football tickets at work. By the time the fall rolls around we’ll likely be under mask mandates and semi lockdowns again.
