If I were Narduzzi, and I seemingly have a bit of traction heading into a year where I have a real shot at 10 wins and a bit of recruiting upswing, that MSU is less attractive than it otherwise would be under normal circumstances. Narduzzi makes 3mm all in, which is what Dantonio was making at MSU (he had a one time 4.3mm retention bonus in January of this year that he obviously stuck around for). Hard to see why he would take this job right now.

That said, if he left, I wouldn't necessarily be broken up about it in the long term. Would definitely suck for 2020 as I'm inclined to think he gets the most out of his players compared to the average new coach, but Lyke and Gallagher seem like they know what they're doing and would make a good hire.

slappy beat me to my hot take that Pitt is a better job than MSU in 2020

In addition to the above, Pitt is in a very winnable division, MSU not so much. Duzz seems like a guy that's almost loyal to a fault, I just really don't see it happening. I bet they get Fickell

I'd rather have fickell than Nard Dog if I'm MSU or if I'm pitt for that matter.

Fickell appears to be the strong frontrunner.

I was looking at his tweets and it seemed like he committed to Iowa State on Jan 29th, but changed his mind and how signed with Pitt? I mean a good kicker is always nice to have, just seemed odd.

He committed to Iowa State after Pitt only offered him
a “blue shirt” walk-on spot. Once he committed elsewhere Narduzzi offered a full scholarship. Still kinda weird because he’ll be redshirting behind Kessman this year whereas he’d be the defecto starting kicker on day one at Iowa State.

it is very anticlimactic in this day and age but it is probably better for everyone involved to have an early signing period

anyone going to the recruiting social thing at Heinz tonight?

Narduzzi press conference.... pretty much said MSU reached out to him and he said thanks but no thanks. Reports out there that they've already been rebuffed by Fickell and Matt Campbell.

Grad transfer TE Lucas Krull and freshmen RB Israel Abanikanda, WR Jordan Addison, LB Solomon DeSheields, WR Aydin Henningham, SS Buddy Mack and LB A.J. Roberts are all early enrollees.

Another departure. LB Kyle Nunn transferred to University of Findley, where he will join former Pitt WR Ruben Flowers. No real surprise there. I don't think he would have legitimately challenged for a role in the two-deep next year.

This apparently gets Pitt to 85 scholarships. Narduzzi alluded yesterday that may still add another player from this 2020 class, so it wouldn't surprise me to see another player or two move on.

I figured he would be on his way out. Kid always had nice size, but the athleticism was never there and he was already losing his special teams playing time to younger and better players at LB.

I always wondered where Flowers ended up. Looks like he went to Last Chance U #2 Independence CC for a season, where his 12 catches for 161 yards and a TD opened the door for a big time transfer to D-2 University of Findlay. Apparently he's nowhere near as good as I hoped he was.
