Dependable in Moon Twp does a really nice job and is packed most weekends. Not sure about the weeknights. They run year round. You can bring in pretty much whatever- a lot of drive ins don't allow alcohol or some don't allow outside food.

That sucks. The drive in is still my favorite way to watch a movie.

Out theater closed 10+ years ago. Johnstown isn't far, a 25 min drive from my house, but I went from going to the movies two or three times a month at a bare minimum to once ever other month.
I really miss going to the Bar-Ann Drive-In in Portage. What a great venue.
I don't know if you have any recollection of it, but the Eat-n-Park on Plank Rd in front of Holiday Bowl used to be a drive-in.
That was before my time. Do you remember when Plank Road was actually wood planks too? ;)

Skipped up to Fast 4 because I thought that was the one with the rock. It's not, but man does the series appear to take a major shift in tone. Dom and the the cop (can't remember his name) are not good actors and I think that only adds to how good these can get. They basically said let's make the cars superheros and throw in some family time as well and I'm all in for that. Looking forward to 5

4 is the only one I haven't seen, and I've seen the rest of them multiple times. For some reason that particular one is never streaming anywhere. I need to just knuckle down and buy the whole series (so far) and do a straight run-through. Maybe this winter.

For those who've seen F9, how does it stack up compared to F8?

It's even more absurd and crazy. They just keep upping it. Whether you think it's better or not I guess is subjective.

Wife and I had a good time just turning our brains off for 2 hours. The story in these movies basically means nothing to me at this point, it really serves no purpose or meaning.

They reallllllly took it out of this world this time though (literally)....I'm not sure how they crank the craziness up anymore after this one.

There is a surprising amount of F&F discussion here. Which is cool but we best not hear any complaining about Hollywood's lack of original ideas the next time a sequel or reboot is announced.

It's super dumb what they did to that franchise, and everyone making jokes about them going into space, and they do it, is just ridiculous.

The original movies helped me decide to sell my turbo AWD GSX.

Really F5 on should be considered it's own set of movies. The tonal shift from that point forward is huge.

I would say anything past 3 (Tokyo Drift was 3 right?), really. The first two were at least grounded in street racing/city crime. Then it all turned into heist and massive avenge plots.

I ask because I really did not care for F8, so if the consensus on F9 is "ridiculous, but not as satisfying," or "on par with," then I might just skip it.

I've seen about 20 minutes of one of the 5-8 movies and it was ridiculous, but fun. I've seen the first 2 movies and they are terrible. These are not good actors and when they are more serious in the first two, it does them no favors. Justin Lin did the paintball episodes from community and I've found if you watch these movies when he started with that frame of mind, then you are going to have fun.

I didn't watch F3, but I like in F4 Dom is pretty much like slasher movie villain. Make no mistake, these are some of the dumbest movies I've seen, but when they are fun, they are fun. It was also nice seeing Gal Gadot pop up

My wife kept remarking how bad of an actor Vin Diesel was during F9. She's like why do they have him try to show emotion or act? He's awful. Just have him drive around, never have him talk.

Diesel's best role is one where he has literally three lines.

I couldn't stop laughing last night because the camera stayed on him a second too long in some scenes and it was funny watching him try to act his way through a scene. I also couldn't stop laughing because about 30% of the movies is just closeups in a car making faces pretending to shift.

Before I commit to this, John Wick is worth watching the entire series in a row, correct? I have been meaning to watch them forever now, and plan on rolling with them first on my upcoming flights.

It's weird to me because if you go back and watch early stuff like Boiler Room he's downright charismatic. But in this series he just stares and grunts.

You don't have to watch them in a row, but if you have the time to do it all in one shot it's worth it IMO.

I've got a lot of hours to kill, so I'm trying to do this with a few of them. May run though FF 5-9 on the second flight.

Diesel shows more charisma as Groot than in the FF series. I don’t think he likes the series and is really only there for the paycheck. His career post TFATF was so mediocre that he was back onboard within two movies with his cameo in Tokyo Drift. Fully back in Fast and Furious, but hates that it was Dwayne Johnson that took the franchise to record box office returns and not him. His attempts to do stuff outside of FF other than voice work have been terrible, including a failed restart of XXX, so this series is all he has. Coast his way through two more movies and massive paychecks for the series he helped build… all for people to hope that the finale puts John Cena against The Rock.

I really can't understand what people see in Cena. It's like watching a sentient block of wood.
