Also, I should note that we're probably going to another year of problems like this arising, as many shoots that took place during 2020 that haven't been released yet would not necessarily have had agreements in place that contemplated all this COVID bullshittery. Going forward after that, I would not be at all surprised if new talent agreements take the possibility of day-and-date streaming release into account.

Now that I think about it, it's possible that with ScarJo's agreement specifically calling out an exclusive theatrical release that her representation did sort of account for the possibility of Disney releasing the movie on D+. Just not for pandemic reasons.

Apparently Disney's defense is "but the exposure!"

Real classy of Disney to slam SJ over the pandemic too.

I rewatched Forrest Gump recently. It did not hold up.

One of those movies I'll start watching from any point when it's on.

The real life story of this guy - and there were several others like him - is bonkers.

Jungle Cruise wasn’t bad. I expected a little more, being Disney, but we still enjoyed it. Loved the rendition of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ that they used in certain scenes.

Not sure why this is happening, but I'm kinda curious to see this movie. I asked Mrs Tif if she wanted to watch it over the weekend and she was like, "Nooooooooooooooope", so I'm flying solo if I watch it.

It's so goofy, because the ride Pirates of the Caribbean has a story; there's a plot that you can suss out and follow. So it makes some narrative sense to translate that to a (one) movie. But....... what's the narrative to the Jungle Cruise ride? It's just puns from the boat captain and the elephants under the waterfall. So I'm wondering how they took that and made it into a movie.

Watch it. I'm interested to see what you think about it.

Don't open until you do:

I actually loved the jokes he told in the opening scenes.

It's getting horrible reviews. And the casting choices for the next one are pretty bad too, hope this isn't a slide.

I'll catch **** for saying Tom Hanks and Adrien Brody are bad casting, but Hanks looks like an awkward fit and Brody is a pile of meh. But I also dislike a lot of his ensemble so what the **** do I know.

Adrien Brody signed a petition calling for Roman Polanski's release after his 2009 arrest in Switzerland and attempted extradition to the US. Which is enough of a reason to dislike Brody. And then you read the petition...
As members of the European Film Academy and the European film community we protest at the arbitrary treatment of one of the world’s most outstanding film directors. We declare our deep respect for our colleague and friend Roman Polanski and we demand his immediate release.
And then you read who else signed...

Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, Michael Mann, Ethan Coen, David Lynch, Alexander Payne, Penelope Cruz, Tilda Swinton, Jonathan Demme, Wes Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Terry Gilliam, John Landis, etc.

And you're reminded that if you have talent and are able to tell a good story on film, drugging and raping a 13 year old girl is a-okay.

Some of those names are, sadly, unsurprising.

The Suicide Squad was an absurd r rated fun filled 2 hours and ten minutes in the theater. Just a lot of profanity filled bloody fun.

Moonrise Kingdom and Budapest Hotel gave me the same sense of irritation from all the over the hill actors smelling their own farts in the previews.

…but then I really liked those movies none the less. I can’t get a handle on this dude’s talent

The Suicide Squad was just average. I can’t imagine how bad the original one was if this was supposedly much better.
