It definitely doesn't.Source of the post Why does Ghostbusters need a reboot for younger audiences?
Movie Thread
There are worse franchises to reboot and if all this accomplishes is removes the terrible taste of Ghostbusters 2016 from our mouths then I'm fine with it. The only thing that bums me out about this reboot is that they waited too long and Harold Ramis isn't around. Though if Ramis was still around, Murray probably wouldn't be involved. He and Ramis didn't reconcile until Ramis was basically dying.
Also Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time and it's been fun to see it back in the zeitgeist.

I mean not sure what other way they could have gone... Harold Ramis is dead, everyone else is really old, you can't make a movie around the original guys. So you tie it to them (or one of them) through their family.
I don't think this is really a reboot to be honest. In any event...I like what I've seen, and am excited to go see it in theaters on opening night.

Murray and Aykroyd are both in this, it's a reboot/handoff.

Yeah all the originals have at least a cameo. I mean, except Egon obviously.

I'm aware they have parts. I guess I just don't see this as a typical "reboot", but I guess that's what it is.
Call it whatever you want... I'm excited to see it.

I thought it was lame it wouldn't be released in time for Halloween. Then they made it theater only so I can just wait for October 2022 to rent it for $7 from a digital service.

Name one of these franchise resurrection movies that you’d consider good? Like…good, in the sense that you’d like it even if there wasn’t a legacy movie attached to it.
I never care when they drag canonical stuff through the dirt for a cash grab. It’s just that it’s never interesting.
I guess I liked “The Hills Have Eyes” as far as a remake being really entertaining. But it’s not like that’s an iconic franchise.

Why do the Blockbuster "so many big actors in the film you need to see their faces" approach when the only big recognizable lead is...Paul Ruud?Really looking forward to this but man I don’t like this poster.

I was going to say The Fly and The Thing, but now see you talking about franchise films and not single movies.

Do the Bond films count or are they considered ongoing and therefore not reboots?

Oh. Yes, definitely. Same with Keaton’s, if you count the movie from the 60’s as its predecessorNolan's Batman, shmenguin?

This is a different category. Because reasons.Do the Bond films count or are they considered ongoing and therefore not reboots?

Fury Road jumps to mind immediately. That might be the best reboot of all time.
Lesser but still good: JJ’s first Star Trek, True Grit, the newer Planet of the Apes trilogy. I’m sure there are more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.

I think the Bond and Batman movies count as reboots. They may be based on the same underlying IPs, but they are so stylistically different every time a new lead is cast or a new director takes the helm.

Introduced kids to Army if Darkness last night, obviously it went over very well. That movie is incredible. I prefer watching the way they did that skeleton army and their FX vs what they would do today with CGI

Watched Palm Springs the other night.
Sort of a groundhog's day reboot in a good way. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent. I watched it for the first time last weekend. My wife hated the first two movies and didn't want to watch the third with me so I went to my Dad's to watch it. She ended up finishing the event she was at early, dropped in, and watched it with us.Introduced kids to Army if Darkness last night, obviously it went over very well. That movie is incredible.
