Also, SAG rules govern crediting. If an actor doesn't speak on-camera, they aren't likely getting a crefit. And remember, the idea is specifically to not feature the doubles so you can't tell they're not the main actor.

I finally watched The Hobbit trilogy. I saw the first one in theater and, well, I didn't see the other two so I suppose that sums up my feelings. I've seen LOTR so many times and for whatever reason I was just never interested in the Hobbit. And now after watching almost 8 hours of movies, I'm still not very interested in it. They are bloated, largely forgettable films. Not to state the obvious, but all Jackson/Warner Brothers needed to do was create a single 3 hour movie. Instead greed got the better of them and we got what we got.

Yeah, I've not seen any of The Hobbit films specifically because I acknowledge it's a complete doofus move to take a children's book of less than 100,000 words and give it the same cinematic treatment as a gown up fantasy tale of nearly 600,000 words, plus appendices..... I mean, the fact that LOTR even has appendices is kind of a tell. Give it the same production values, sure; it is the same world, after all, with some character overlap, so you don't want to go cheap. But to exert the same level of storytelling is just absurd.

It definitely feels of the same world, though there are some changes or short cuts that make it feel less than. For example, the orcs and goblins being CGI rather than practical make-up effects/suits. Richard Taylor is the **** man. Let him do his thing.

My son loves the hobbit movies (not as much as LOTR obviously), and while I'll sit and watch because I just like watching that world, I find that we watch certain scenes from those rather than the movies in their entirety. The 4k remaster is pure eye candy on these.

I didn't get around to reading The Hobbit last year, 20 years after reading the original trilogy. Loved it, but little interest to go out of my way to watch the films.

Every time I see those two, they just seem to be enjoying life after LOTR. And why not? 24 years old in 2001 and (I would think) set for life.

I had a couple beers on their tab at the Viper Room many moons ago.

Watching The Hobbit trilogy made me want to watch LOTR. HBO Max has the extended editions. My afternoon is sorted.

It doesn't seem right that the Balrog is only $110.

So it's a limited series? Like one and done? Or are they just wrapping on season one?
JRR Tolkien Super Duper Mega Thread
A second season has already been ordered by Amazon, but I'm not aware of anything beyond that.

The Two Trees of Valinor were destroyed before the First Age, in the Age of the Trees. So if the series takes place in the SA, and that spoiler image is of the Two Trees (which I think we all agree it is), then that's a flashback, a la the prologue to the FOTR movie. And if the most significant thing that happened to the Two Trees was their destruction at the hands of Melkor and Shelob........... and Shelob shrouded Melkor in her Unlight shadow when they attacked Valimar.......... and the white figure in the frame is cast in a shadow despite being fully in the unobstructed glare of the light source..................
...........is that white-robed figure Melkor, with Shelob out of frame above him? (Or maybe just not comped in for the purposes of this marketing image?)

New Zealand is Middle Earth so this will be weird.

Maybe season 2 will have more focus on Numenor. I could see them using the British Isles as a closer approximation to that.
