And I carry that number with me all day and will give it to anyone that asks.
Do you have random people who come up to you and ask you how much you weigh often?
No.

Like Cosby, I just kind of force it on folks.

I haven’t stepped on a scale in...10 years.

Well wait. Aside from my doctor’s scale at my annual wellness check.

When I'm tracking my weight daily I weigh myself the same time every day (in the morning first thing) to keep things consistent.

I weight myself like dodint does because I figure that gives me the lowest number, which makes me feel better. Right now it's 208.5.

I do not own a scale. I own a mirror, that's really my gage...

I track it weekly. Daily seems like there would be too much fluctuation and cause some unneeded stress.

I spent the weekend at the race track eating pizza, bbq, catering sandwiches, and snack cakes. By Sunday I was probably carrying 2-3lbs excess water due to the unusual sodium intake.

But it is my lowest weight of the year and the lowest since Jan 2020. Huzzah.

I think it just varies person to person. I track daily so I can see those fluctuations. I know if I eat a heavy pasta meal or something.. I'm likely to be up a couple pounds the next day no matter what. If I weighed myself only once a week and had that pasta the night before my weigh in... I might not think I'm making any progress when I am when I look at my overall trend downwards.

The app I use the weight loss line is all over the place on a day to day basis, but as long as my overall trend is heading down.. then I know I'm still doing ok.

Yeah, same. Mentally I'd lose it if I tried to only weigh in once a week. The Garmin app gives me weekly averages as well. If I'm having a poor stretch of a few days I like to go look at the 7-days for the last few periods and it makes me feel better.

Yeah you gotta do what works for you. Daily would drive me insane and my weight would be all consuming.

worst times: post meal, post drinking, pre dump

I also managed to somehow lose a few lbs while being on steroids this past week from my poison ivy... so there is that.

Always in the morning for me, right before my shower. Have to take a piss first, as I've found that will shave as much as 1-2 pounds off the weight.

Was hovering below 200 for a little bit last year, now back up to 205-206.

I rarely weigh myself, but decided to do so the other day just to see if I was maintaining my weight. Up maybe half a pound over the last few months, was good with that, went about the rest of my day. Like mikey, the mirror test and clothing fit is my real gauge. Should be easier to drop a few with the weather warming up, and us resuming outdoor activities like walks and bike rides.

when someone says they weigh a certain amount, what measurement do they use?

like weight fluctuates a lot based on when you weigh yourself, if you’ve eaten something recently, if you just exercised, etc. like a year ago my way would fluctuate between 156-161 but now I just measure my lightest weight at 151 and over the past couple of weeks have been fluctuating from 153-156

should I take the 7 day average or something?
I have a digital scale and I'd be lying if I said that thing was accurate. I'll step on it 3x times and get three different readings with a variation of 3-5 lbs. I tried moving it to different locations in the house because I think my house has a slight lean to it, which I thought might have effected how the scale reads. Wrong. It just spits out whatever number it feels. I weighted myself over the weekend and was 195, 198, and 196. Same place in the house, wearing the same stuff. 196 seems to work for me I guess.

My Garmin Index scale will flake out sometimes. Another good reason to read daily. If the first reading is suspect, the second and third readings are usually the same and a lot more probable.

I know it ties in with the Garmin Fit app, so I'm thinking that's what it is.

My health insurance company has a weight loss program, where if I enroll, I get a free Fitbit Aria scale. Should be here tomorrow. Yay?
