I love a good conspiracy theory, even if most of them are borderline insane. I thought it would be fun to start a thread for other conspiracy minded weirdos like me.
Here's a story that recently caught my eye:
http://confession.viralthread.com/retir ... -deathbed/
A retired CIA officer, Normand Hodges, has made a series of astonishing confessions since he was admitted to the Sentara General Hospital on Monday.
The 78-year old claims he committed 37 assassinations for the U.S. government between 1959 and 1972, including the beloved actress and model, Marilyn Monroe.

I kind of find whats going on with Harry Reid to be at the conspiracy level. I like the way Limbaugh put it, something like "I don't believe for a minute that whatever happened to Harry Reid has anything to do with an exercise machine unless somebody repeatedly threw him into it."

I don't buy the single-bullet theory for one minute. But that does not therefore mean that that Sam Giancana had JFK killed. Or that a Secret Service agent in the following car shot him. Or even that there was a second gunman on the grassy knoll.

Kaiser and I were watching Lapelle Show and he said something about the American Government wanting drugs in the country to keep African Americans from gaining affluence.
Also, I have this theory that is bat****
(are the curse words starred out by the system or do we star them out? I did just in case. Starts with $...)
I was thinking the other day that corporations pay people to say things that get people riled up. I guess we call them trolls. Anyway, I just think it's a way for corporations to guage the temperment of the American people while distracting them.
I got the idea from Gwyneth Paltrow stuff on FB. People love criticizing her on there. She tried to live on foodstamps for a week to shed light on what it's like to try to eat the way people should be eating (aka a balanced meal with nutrients) And everyone starts talking about how much they hate her.
The actual article "she wrote" said that it was not possible for her to sustain the forced diet and she ended up caving in and eating outside of what she bought for the challenge, which was very alarming to her.
But then my own FB friends were commenting and sharing this story. They and other FB users debated about how much food stamps can buy, what people oversaw food stamp users buying while at the grocery store, and how Paltrow will never understand what it is like to be poor and how terrible she is to half heartedly shed light on it. And in the meantime no one is talking about HOW THE EFF WE CAN GET PEOPLE TO A POINT WHERE THEY ARE HAPPY PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY WHO EARN ENOUGH SO THAT THEY ARE NOT ON FOOD STAMPS.
I get that she did it for publicity but I seriously think people are paid to keep the focus on how terrible she is and how people can take their frustrations out on her instead of talking about the issue at hand. ..poverty in America and the steps we need to take to minimize it.
....
The End.

There was a German band from the 90s called Guano Apes.

Speaking of conspiracies. I want to try to get ahead of this one.
The NHL draft lottery works like this:
14 balls are placed in a machine, numbered 1 through 14.
It spits out 1 ball every 10 seconds until there are 4 balls taken from the machine. This is filmed and published.
The 4 balls are observed and their numbers recorded.
The recorded numbers form a string (i.e. 11, 12, 13, 14 becomes 11121314)
There are 1000 valid strings, and the number of strings a team has corresponds to their % chance. So Buffalo has 200 strings, Boston has 10.
The strings are assigned at random by Bortz & Company and the process is validated by Ernst & Young.
The list of strings is available here (PDF): http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/pdfs/N ... erical.pdf
So unless the machine itself is rigged to spit out 4 certain balls, or they film ahead of time until they get the result they want (and get the EY to buy into the scheme), it's not a conspiracy if a team you don't like gets the pick.

I think with Edmonton winning any thoughts of it being rigged have been put to bed.
Conspiracy Theory Thread
I disagree, in the sense that them winning it a bunch means there's no conspiracy.
One could see it as the NHL brass feeling bad that Edmonton has had so many #1 overall picks recently, but haven't done anything with it yet. They have to keep the fans in Edmonton interested and spending money to watch the team, because it definitely looks like it's going south there. Hence why they keep getting the #1 pick. Money talks. NHL likely gains more revenue if Edmonton gets the #1 OV pick than if they aren't in the top 2.
