You brought up expansion as a net positive vs the NBA. Phoenix is possibly the biggest fail of all-time. This was brought to this thread as some abhorrent take, the onus isn't on me to prove anything, y'all need to do better to show why the NHL is better. Currently I have, checks notes... "expansion (lol) and refs".. that all?

Since we're not going to go into any kind of detail. Let's just be very simple about it.

The NBA has the worst refs. Considering the speed of the game, the length of game, the ref to player ratio, the concentration of action, the ability to ticky tack your way out of a game, and that they do such a poor job that they were implored to do press conferences to answer for their poorness.

Plus, THE LEAGUE WAS FIXED for an extended period of time and for all we know, might still be...this isn't some Black Sox bull**** back in 17 odd 6. The NBA was fixed while we were in college...it just happened...and again, the past tense of that isn't certain...

When comparing leagues, you probably want to start with:
- Is it fixed?
If no, continue to question 2.
If yes, it's the worst league.

So, NBA officiating was so suspect and bad that they had to introduce - not player tracking so much - but referee tracking. And that's being used as a point in your favor...?

I do want to read that more thoroughly though, it sounds very interesting. Once I get a better sense of it, I'll ask around and see what the NHL does. I know there's a grading system. I don't know about the data though, I suspect there isn't an equivalent to this degree. I think it's a "scouting report" kinda deal...

I mean, let's pretend I concede NHL refs are better. They're **** trash for the record. But let's just go with that. Is that the only argument you jabronies have here in the NHLs favor?

Well...player movement is another obvious one. In place of rivalries, players concede and form super teams...concentrating talent into 3-5 teams and they run roughshod over other teams to such a high degree that guys like LeBron can afford to be scratched in games to preserve him for play against other super teams.

Effectively, Celtics/Lakers, Pistons/Bulls etc. was replaced with Miami Heat vs no one because LeBron couldn't beat enough teams with Cleveland the first time...Jordan should have joined up with Isaiah...? **** off with that weak ass ****. Meanwhile, Fleury possibly douses his chances of playing a meaningful game for the rest of his career to avoid being a Capital...and more than four teams are eligible to win every year in the NHL...

These are top flight, top of the list "bad league" questions. Like, it'd be tougher to design a fantasy football league with a poorer structure/environment than this...

I mean I'll be honest I don't really care enough/have the energy to spend much time on this. But you're making arguments of why today's NHL is better than 2015 NBA. The refs had issues, that seems fixed. Super teams happened, they don't really anymore. The Bucks won last year, Raptors two years ago, this year is wide open. The top 4 MVP favorites and Luka, Jokic, Embiid and Giannis - 4 foreigners that their league has somehow figured out how to make into superstars. Their attendance is better, TV ratings better, their players make more money, their relocations have gone better, they don't have lockouts every 8 years..

You're evaluating the binary result and not the process as a misdirection/obfuscation attempt. You're also ignoring that, say, LeBron will go to any team that already has stars to try to monster truck the league. You know this all already, playing possum doesn't help your cause here...

He's also set the franchise back like 5-10 years even after he goes. I get what he brings to your team, or well did on the last contract. But he's basically giving your soul to the devil. Lakers management is apparently upset by all that happened, but there should be zero surprise.

LeBron owns the team until he leaves.
