I've been a long time member of this community, going all the way back to Igloo Report back in the '90's. It feels pretty strange to be discussing Penguins hockey online at somewhere other than LGP; I wouldn't have come here had it not been for Three Stars' heavy-handed handling (say that 3x fast) of the PDT, and banning me from political discussion there... I know I held strong opinions, and that I held to them vigorously, and undoubtedly offended people with my positions from time to time, but I really don't think I was any worse than anyone else in that thread... and now that it's been reinstated (lol), you can all go back and see for yourselves!

I really don't feel all that bad for RJ myself. I told him his mods were heavy-handed and apt to let their personal opinions intervene when I got banned from discussing politics. He could have taken the warning then, but he didn't (because his personal opinions jived with his mods). That's business. You win some, you lose some. Winners move on, losers go home.
I'm real glad to see this community emerge, and I can only hope it avoids the same pitfalls. It won't, of course.
That's the natural arc. But we'll get to enjoy it for a good decade or so, anyway.
