Executive orders at the start of a presidency is pretty common isn't it?

So is this how **** works now? Just executive order everything and **** the democratic process?
When Obama did it, the right said he was becoming a dictator, tossing aside the constitution, betraying America, etc. Now that Trump's doing it, it's fine. US politics as usual. As long as your side is doing it, it's all good.

Legislation by Executive Order is bad no matter who is doing it.

If only we hadn't let presidential powers run amok in the recent past...then again, who could have possibly seen the down side of not curtailing the power of the president...

Going to place a multi-month ban on refugees, block visas from being issued to anyone from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, and will likely tell Customs and Border Protection to stop current visa holders from those countries from entering the US.

Just downright despicable ****.

Remember how we were talking about all those women marching for rights that weren't going to be taken away. In less then a week the Global Gag rule is back and HR7 solidifies and strengthens the Hyde Amendment.
But they have nothing to worry about...

Twitter needs to ban his personal account. That would be the only way this stops.

Ok...during the election I had my best friend on Hillary's side. She was trying to get me to vote for Hillary.

I kept telling her I couldn't stomach Hillary and Goldman Sachs etc.
And she kept saying why are you expecting her to be perfect?

The same thing is, happening with Cory Booker. He did what he thought was right for NJ. I can't say I blame him.
And people keep talking about the way he voted to refuse us importing drugs from Canada.

I feel like this is being done on purpose. It's irritating.

Trump is expected to ban for several months the entry of refugees into the United States, except for religious minorities escaping persecution, until more aggressive vetting is in place.
Ehh, I'm not really sure how "despicable" this is. We need to hit the reset button on our immigration/border security policy, and that does not necessarily mean a permanent suspension of entry of refugees or whomever else. I'm not really a fan of bringing in tens of thousands of refugees willy-nilly and dumping them into towns across the country.

What's wrong with taking a few months to reassess things, especially given the consequences of lax policies in Europe over the last couple years? If he suddenly decides to implement a permanent ban, I'll be more alarmed.

Except that our vetting is already more aggressive than that of any European country.

This is a truism.

TBH, I think beefing up the border is a far bigger emergent issue than refugee policy in the United States. Re: refugee policy, I think the best thing we can do there is have some sort of structured assimilation program in place. The big reason why there has been so much unrest in France over the last decade-plus has been because they have thousands and thousands of migrants from North Africa, that are basically thrown into their own pockets (ghettos) and isolated.

The "rurals" elected Trump because they felt like they didn't have a voice.

They really showed us city slickers. We should definitely be listening.

It is pretty myopic to simply blame rural people for electing trump

Yeah... at least put the blame where it lies: Rust belt rurals.

"Rurals" is code for white trash - who can exist anywhere. So you have a point.

I can also blame establishment republicans of course, but they pulled that lever with some degree of reluctance. "Rurals" were lining up in their MAGA hats.
