The FBI confidential source charged last week for allegedly providing false information about President Biden and his son Hunter Biden implicated Russian intervention in court documents filed Tuesday.

Alexander Smirnov, 43, admitted that "officials associated with Russian intelligence" were involved in passing a story about Hunter Biden, per the government's memorandum in support of his detention.

I'm not much for ends-justifying-means, but there are some not very subtle differences between abuse of power in furtherance/protection of the Union and abuse of power for the sake of maintaining your grip on that power. One perceives a larger good, while the other's ability to perceive 'good' stops at the tip of their nose.

It's still ultimately abuse of power, of course.
I'm willing to listen if they want to leave again. Or be kicked out, whichever.

With a 'ks' in the first name, it sounds like a 1980s defector who snuck over to play in the NHL.

None of this Hunter Biden really makes sense to me.

The Special Prosecutor that charged Hunter Biden with tax fraud and lying on his gun form is charging this russian guy with providing false information. Providing false information to whom? If I am also understanding, this is one of house "impeachment inquiry" witnesses. So is that who the false information was provided to?

So now that the information was from Russia, that has to shine some light on how the GOP got this info, right? Either they got tricked or were in on it? Either way, not good looks (not that anything matters anymore)

Rep Comer says the impeachment isn't reliant upon Smirnov, and that the FBI was apparently only motivated to vet the claims after the House started House-ing. (Cos that's how the FBI typically operates......) But he won't release unredacted testimony because of 'privacy'. Not security concerns, privacy.

the Tucker Carlson going to Russia thing is…incomprehensible to me. Stewart covered it a little and it genuinely makes no sense. Why the **** is Carlson carrying water for Putin and Russia? It’s so unhinged

And Tucker has a following among the group that has shown to be most susceptible to Russian disinformation

Seems pretty consistent with the last 8 or so years of republican politics.

Putin is based, Democrats are woke.

Either way, it's just so *really* odd that the GOP and Russia just keep happening to get in bed together.

The Carlson grocery store segment was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen a media person do. "Look how cheap groceries are in The Motherland! The subway has chandeliers!!!"

If we're going to cherry pick subway stations New York does pretty well for itself:

Yeah... the complete shock and excitement about that when I remember going to Aldi as a kid and seeing that was funny.

I'll never forget when I was a kid, my mom had me put the cart back - and some old guy took it from me as a nice guy gesture, and I went back and my mom yelled at me because I gave up a quarter.
