As of this post, they are up to $56k in less than 24 hours. Why, at that rate, it will only take them 6,300 (or so) days to reach their goal.

BK isn't an option........ at least I don't think it is. This whole trial just established a record of the value of Trump (Org's) real estate holdings. And whichever of the fraudulent values they put forward you choose to believe, the total far exceeds the total sum of the judgments (incl E. Jean Carroll). So in pursuing his defense he has actively asserted he is very much not BK, and I'm not sure if you can make an assertion as to certain facts in a proceeding in one jurisdiction and then represent those same facts completely differently in another....... I mean, doing just that sort of thing is why he's in this situation.

And I also think I heard someone say this is another case where should he choose to pursue an appeal he will have to either deposit the judgment amount in escrow using funds he provides directly (lol), or secure a bond. He has I think 30 days to appeal, and as to the E. Jean award he is already close to 20 days into that period and I don't think a bondsman has agreed to work with him.

Also, they said the E. Jean award couldn't be discharged via BK because of the nature of the underlying offense at the heart of the penalty. (e.g. malicious acts) I don't know if there's a similar restriction on fraud judgments.

Judgment wasn't formally entered until February 8th, so we're only around 10 days in. It wouldn't be an immediate appeal, regardless. The next step is post-trial motions, which must be filed within 28 days of the entry of judgment. Only after the disposition of post-trial motions would Trump file an appeal to the Second Circuit. There's also an automatic 14-day stay of execution, so no bond would be needed yet.

Issues not raised in a post-trial/judgment motion are waived for appeal. The rule is that an appellate court will not address an alleged error that was not raised before the trial court because the trial court has the right to either correct its own errors first or to explain how it did not make an error.
