I’ve purchased items from Black Ship. Quality stuff.

I’ve started using a safety razor. I don’t see myself going back to disposable ones ever again

:thumb: As always YMMV, but I've had very good experiences with the Personna "Medical Prep" blades, and Feather Blades are regularly considered the sharpest on the market, although not everyone gets the best shave from the sharpest blades. The Med Preps are my go-to blade. I'd personally stay away from Dorco blades. I bought some and hated them. And Merkur blades are mediocre and overpriced, IMO.

I’ve been using Astra Superior Platinums. No complaints. I only shave about 30% of my real estate and only every other day.

I found 100 Atra blades for $15 on eBay and have been using those for the last year. I started shaving with these in the early 1980's and they are not as good as Gillette's current blades, but for once a week shaving with a fresh blade they're fine.

I think I've tried the Astras, but I'm not sure. Years ago I bought a blade sampler from West Coast Shaving (https://www.westcoastshaving.com) and went through what I got. I remember that I thought the BIC, Gillette, Derby, Shark, and Merkur blades were all sort of midpack. The Feathers are very nice and sharp, and I thought the Israeil "red pack" Personnas were up there, but not as good as the Personna Med Preps, which I've stuck with. I remember hating the Dorco blades I got. I don't remember if Astra blades were part of that. The Med Preps are on the expensive side (if $45 for 100 blades is considered expensive), but they're also made in the USA, if that matters to anyone.

West Coast Shaving has lots of good stuff, and I can recommend the company if anyone needs shaving supplies.

Even though I've only been shaving about once a week these days, I impulse purchased a new razor from Amazon: the Emperor Meiji adjustable razor from Viking's Blade. This is basically a revival of the old Gillette "fatboy" adjustable razor from the 50s and 60s. The fit and finish are excellent, and it seems to be well made of good materials. It's certainly nice and heavy. There aren't many adjustable twist-to-open safety razors out there, and this seems to be a good example. It's definitely going in my razor rotation.

With the weather forecast for the next 10 days it wouldn’t surprise me if dry scrot was a problem.

does anyone use an electric shaver? are they appropriate to replace an actual razor for every day shaving?

What do you straight blade razor users (might just be Shyster here) do with your old blades?

Yeah, that happened when we did our bathroom remodel. The house was built in 1964.

Interesting, the house I grew up in was built in 1965 and we didn't have this although it did have plaster walls and ceilings.

This came up on reddit a few weeks ago. Maybe what inspired the video. Supposedly the cutoff for this kind of medicine cabinet was somewhere in the late 70s.

Someone who asserts that a safety razor is good "for one single use and slicing up your face" has never used one. To the contrary, today's multi-blade razors are designed more to separate you from your money than they are to shave your face.

I bought a small one-quart Sharps container for my used razor blades. It'll probably take me the rest of my life to fill it up.

Ear hair, **** annoying.

They didn't start until my early 50's and they are confined to the tragus but annoying having to pluck them.
