I usually have our mini split's set to 70, the one in the bedroom a touch cooler at night. I usually set them to come on at like 11 or 12 if both I and the wife are working to keep the animals cool if its hot out. The one in the main living area is probably on from 11 or 12 till about 10 at night during the summer, and the one in our bedroom I usually turn on around 9 or so .. so its ice cold when its time to go to bed and it's on till about 7 am when I get up for work. We have a small house, and they are energy efficient.. our electric bill isnt over 70$ in the summer now with the mini splits. The window units were less efficient and our bill was quite a bit higher.

Nothing better when you can feel a cool front come through. Wind picks up, changes direction, and suddenly the ambient air feels more comfortable.

I thought it was rain on fresh asphalt? You're fickle.

Aye, here too. Mid to upper 90s for six weeks now. Little or no rain, and with the moderate drought conditions, we're being asked to voluntarily conserve water.

Getting 2" of rain dropped on us today from some pretty stout thunderstorms. For some reason I forgot to grab any of my rain jackets when I left for the gym this morning. Yay.

Wish I had thrown the yard waste into our dry creek, it'll flash flood with this rain, would've carried it all the way to the Mississippi.

Heaviest September 7th rainfall on record:
... New precipitation records set across the area for September 7th...

The following cooperative sites established new rainfall records for
September 7th.

Records
new record old record began
---------- ---------- -------
Neillsville 3sw WI 3.43 inches 2.16 inches in 1936 1893
Black River Falls swg WI 2.83 inches 1.28 inches in 2001 1893
Mather 3nw WI 2.41 inches 1.47 inches in 1927 1903
Neat.

To all the climate change deniers in town for the GOP debate tomorrow afternoon: Please enjoy the summer monsoon we've had today and tomorrow; thought you'd enjoy it. We will be returning back to our regularly scheduled drought later in the week.

We got our first real frost last night, so I suspect all the leaves will be dead and off the trees within 2-3 weeks. :(

Good lord....I'm thinking it actually makes landfall closer to the Hampton Roads area but this almost looks like Sandy 2.0 with that crazy western swing in the north Atlantic.

I saw that on the NOAA site this morning as well. There are a few, albeit less likely, models that have it going inland in NC and coming right up in western, PA. What a cluster mug that would be 1 week after all the rain we got yesterday.

The trend is definitely westward--hence why I wouldn't be surprised if it actually ends up making landfall more towards the mouth of the Chesapeake/OBX.

A lot, especially the further east you go (again, this could change, but it's been pretty consistent)

Downtown Frederick, MD flooded last night. This doesn't look good for them.

I might save that map. It's one of the few times in the history of ever that living in the central plains is a good thing. Nice of that model to follow the Wisconsin border perfectly. Seems legit.

Last week a friend from NC shared a picture of front street in Beaufort, NC submerged. This probably won't bode well for them.
