This cold front is no joke. It was 74 degrees at 9:20 AM, dropped to 60 degrees at 10:05 AM.

Over two inches of rain, thankfully no basement issues.

Utterly perfect today. Sitting outside with my laptop working on the deck. I love late September/early October so much.

Weather station hit 44.4 this morning. Hit 41.2 yesterday AM.

Today is going to be glorious. Son's second birthday party is later, couldn't ask for a better day.

Bonkers weather here in SoCal tonight. Been having steady lightning for about 40 minutes now from a cell that's passing about 7-10 miles south, and the thunderclaps are intense enough to shake the house. And now heavy rain has moved in and I can no longer see the 2,000' foot high ridgeline of the Santa Monica mts that separate the Valley from Malibu.

And as I type this we just had a strike in our neighborhood.

Neither Mrs Tif nor I can remember lightning this intense in LA.

We had a bit of that in my area. Started around 2am. How do I know? The house shaking woke my ass up, and I've been up ever since. Some of the lightning was so bright that it was lighting up my living room while I watched TV.

Not a lot of rain, but plenty of thunder and lightning.

What a sht weather pattern as we head through October. Trough out west (they are due for it after the hot summer they had) means a steady flow of moisture, mugginess, and disturbances this way. Southwest flow = lots of mugginess. Very La Nina look.

I'm annoyed that I've had to kick the central air back on the last day or two...and it seems like it will stay that way through this week and part of next week. Shouldn't have to do that in October.

I know a lot of you want to move to the south for retirement, and that's fine, but a cautionary tale: after 30+ years, I am sick of the damn late summer humidity.

Over the weekend, I went out to apply "Fall" weed and feed and found myself drenched after 30 minutes outside. I had fertilizer stuck to my socks and legs, because of the humidity. Gross.

But those 75F days in January though <chef's kiss>

It's gonna be too damn warm and muggy for mid-October. This is normally the nicest weather of the year so I hate losing all these days to this shtty airflow.
