I wish I could use salt. My plants have gone banana lands so I can’t.

Opened my back patio door to take a picture of the snow. One of my cats shot past me, and I was worried about getting him back in. He took about five or six steps out onto the patio, clearly "noped" at the temperature, and ran back past me inside.

Our soon to be 10 year old goldendoodle (or as Tif lovingly refers to her, "Murderdoodle"), has been hilariously ramped up lately. She is always wanting to be close to our 7 year old daughter, has been chasing her around, and lately has taken to air-humping near her. She did this once or twice when she was younger, so no idea what is bringing it out now.

Our 13 y/o GSP sleeps with our kids every night. They share a full sized bed and the 75 lbs dog waits patiently for them to settle then he jumps in and finds an empty spot. It is straight up adorable.

Our female Aussie air humps around the kids periodically. She also herds them, which is hilarious.

Another fish passed overnight, yet as I look at the tank right now, the coloring on the zebra danio have never been brighter. The two that we thought were just a very pale blue are bright **** purple. I take that as a good sign.

This is turning into a massacre. 4 more fish dead today, and I’m 90% certain at least two more are circling the drain. If we’re left with half a dozen fish when all is said and done I’ll be surprised.

What has changed in the last week? New fish? Forgot to condition water during a water change?

We added four neon danio less than 2 days before things went to hell, but they had been eating before I bought them, looked healthy, etc. I don’t think it was them, honestly. We noticed some bloating on two of the fish that died, which lines up with dropsy. We’re still medicating and doing water changes, hoping that the rest pull through.

Water parameters are all perfect, can’t recall if I mentioned that. I did throw some prime in there just in case.

As of right now, we lost the clown pleco, 5 of the 6 rainbows, a few tetra, and a few danio. The last rainbow doesn’t look good, but he made it through the night and hasn’t shown the symptoms that the others did - rapid breathing, and swimming in circles like he was drunk. Plenty of oxygen in the tank with our oversized filter, and the airstone is cranked to 11.

Glad we aren't the only one. That's awesome he sleeps with them at night.

@meow: What's your quarantine procedure, if any? I think whatever was going on with our tank has run it's course, as we haven't had any deaths in the last 2 days. Lost about 70% of the fish overall, unfortunately. When we're ready to re-stock, I was thinking of treating a QT with copper for 2-4 weeks prior to moving to the display tank.

They have good use instructions. I basically following this to a T.

I use a ten gallon with a sponge filter that goes in and out of the display tank when not in the QT to keep beneficial bacteria going. Bare bottom. Half display tank water, half new water.

One thing to note is that they argue not to treat for bacterial infections unless you physically see signs of them.

I’ve heard that too. It’s tougher on livers and kidneys. Only the strong survive meow’s QT process.

I've been slacking on the flea and tick meds here... And now I just found an engorged tick on the living room floor. My shepherd has been oddly limping for a few days now too. I really hope he didn't pick up Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from it. I have it bagged and ready to be sent out tomorrow and will keep a close eye on him in the meantime.

Yup, our goldendoodle tested positive for Lyme years ago. I read a statistic that a sizable majority of domesticated dogs in the Northeast will test positive for Lyme Disease. Thankfully, most are not really affected, although flare-ups can occur.

We give our dog Simparica Trio now (flea, tick, heartworm) once a month. Way easier to keep track of.

Did your pooches require any sort of treatment for the lymes? Antibiotics etc?

Normally, the course of action is to give doxycycline for lyme.

That said, the vet basically told me that if your dog is not showing any effects from being positive for Lyme, the doxycycline treatment can very often be much worse than the issue it is curing. So we've never had her medicated for it.

We’ve never done any treatment. The vet said to look out for stiffness (twss), but he is 13 and on a daily NSAID soooo
