I may swap my winter wheels on this weekend, as well.
Almost always a Thanksgiving weekend ordeal for me. But with possible snow coming, I'll probably do it this weekend too.
I just remembered that I'm off Wed-Fri, so maybe I'll do it one of those days.

Since they're calling for 3-5 inches of lake effect tonight I decided to get the winter tires put on the Mazda today. Local tire shop is great - got me in on short notice and only $50 to dismount/mount/balance all 4. I was paying about that much 20 years ago.
I think I've mentioned it before on here but my family owns a tire business and if you bought the tires from him he will do all of this for next to nothing. Just another reason to support independent local shops and not NTB or Walmart.

There's one local shop near me that I trust to do work. He dropped my car off at my house one time while we were on vacation. OK, you got my business for life.

All other mechanics nearby are your NTB, Mr Tire, Walmart, Pep Boys, etc. Unlucky for me, my guy doesn't have a tire mounter. He's more of a body shop that does inspections and other minor stuff, just not tires.

Pep Boys used to do my summer/winter wheel swap for pretty cheap, but ours closed up.

Rented a Chrysler Voyager to go get my kid at college and bring some old furniture home from my parents' house. I had no idea they still made vehicles with a touch screen as small as 7". I don't wear my glasses to drive but I can barely read it without them.

I need at least 8 inches Chrysler!

I found your next vehicle @mac5155. The F-750 motor home truck:

New car acquired. Getting used to all the new features. Really enjoying the blind spot detector.

I took advantage of the relatively warm day to swap on my snow tires and change the oil. All set for winter weather.

So what did you get?

My mileage varies on the new fangled safety features. Love the blind spot detection. Like the adaptive cruise on my Flex but the Mazda version is clunky. Lane departure gets turned off.

I swapped my winter wheels on this morning. The monkey tech who did my inspection torqued the summer wheels down past 140 lb-ft. **** clown.

Looks like we are giving my son our 2017 Accord and getting my wife a 2022 model. Very low inventory everywhere, so we "asked for a quote" from our usual dealer, because no prices are listed.

There is no point in actually going to a dealer lot to "look" at a car if they don't have any inventory, right? My wife wants to go to a dealership 2 hours away because they have more cars available, but not necessarily the specific trim level we want. We don't need to test drive, as this is would be our third Accord and eighth Honda. We know the model and understand the bells, whistles, and control layout. She's stubbornly sticking to the base model LX, because she is frugal. I'd like to at least jump up to the Sport to get a better stereo and bigger wheels...but alas.

My dad works part time at a Honda dealership, and they only ever have a dozen or so new cars on the entire lot - and it’s a large dealership.

I meant NTP66 since his Dad is in the business, but it's been interesting reading generally.

Found a little oil on the garage floor under my wife’s CR-V. Looks like it’s actually brake fluid, and may be coming from the ABS system. Brake lines/ABS is something I won’t mess around with, so it looks like it’s going to the shop next week.

In the business makes me laugh. He’s just trying to keep himself busy in retirement.

Too late now, but I always put some anti-seize on the threads when I change the tires. Helps immensely for the next rotation, even if some brute wants to put a cheater bar on the wrench and go to town.

Honestly, I'd have been shocked if that worked. This was just a case of a tech too lazy to use a damn torque wrench.

Found a 2022 Accord LX at our usual dealer's website on Sunday. Of course, no prices are listed - you need to give them phone number, email, contact info. I've done this in the past and regretted it; the calls and email spam went on for weeks even after we'd moved on to another dealership.

We got nothing except a confirmation email until a few minutes ago...and they quoted us nearly $30K, drive off the lot price. No sticker or equipment listed in the email. The MSRP for a base model is $25500, and this dealership stopped putting on dealer options back when we got our Pilot in 2020.

I've spent the morning reading horror stories on that subreddit that @dodint shared above. Evidently, Honda dealers feel obligated to add upcharges/markup to their sticker prices. Very few are not doing it right now, and Honda dealers seem to be the worst culprits.

Another poster (who claims to be a Honda dealership manager) said Honda hopes to have a 30 day inventory of vehicles by the end of 2022. They normally have a 90-day inventory. So these car prices - used and otherwise - are going to be with us for a while.

Just posted for posterity and info for others.

Interesting. I've never bought a car brand new but the wife wanted to lease a Porsche next year. Will probably hang onto the MINI a while longer since it's chugging along nicely without much care and feeding.

I haven't plumbed the depths of that sub, I just follow it because I practice in that space and am curious about their experiences.
