My wife and I have been enjoying dining in the last few weeks again at restaurants.

Last two weeks have been..

Texas Roadhouse
Burgatory

I think tonight is going to be Dad's Pub and Grub for some good greasy pub like food. We ordered alot from them for takeout and delivery during Covid and their food was always incredible.

Real Thai Cuisine in Cranberry. The kangaroo's authentic thai friend (as in, she grew up in thailand, came here for school, and moved back to Thailand last year with her white boy husband) deemed it to be the #1 thai place in pgh.

I've honestly yet to visit a Thai restaurant in the gr8r Pittsburgh area that I didn't like. Hard for me to tell the subtle difference between 5 stars and 4 stars.

Is that the place by BSB-Cranberry?

Yes, right down the street from the most useless dunkin donuts in western pa.

Fair take. It all tastes awesome. that's why i mentioned it had the official thai seal of approval. she had some strong opinions on pretty much every thai place (and every restaurant in general, i'm not sure if those two lived in a place with a kitchen because they ate seemingly every day) and real thai cuisine was her clear cut #1.

You’re not kidding. That entire complex sucks balls, the Dunkin is gross and yet somehow always busy.

A few weeks ago I woke up with, what my pcp later diagnosed as, a temporary vertigo. Which is what I would describe as a still-drunk hangover that doesn't subside.

But anyway, I had to walk down to my CVS on Browns Hill road to get medications later that afternoon when I could move around because driving was a major no-no. On the way back I stopped at the Dunkin Donuts to get some sort of cold and sweet beverage, it's like tucked into one of those dumb mini-complex things. I just assumed it was always dead. This was probably like 4 on a weekday afternoon, and I had to wait like 20 15 minutes for them to make two drinks. There were at least 6 people working, apparently the drive through is just constant. It look like three of them to figure out how to work the front end cash register, I am guessing they never get people to actually come inside the store now.

Either way, unless you're suffering from a vertigo induced hangover and dunkin donuts is on your way home and you need a cool iced chocolate drink and can't drive anywhere, there's no reason to ever go to that place.

I think I mentioned it already, but if anyone likes Thai, try out Royal Myanmar, which is in West View. Burmese/Myanmarese food is similar to Thai and nearby cuisines, but with its own twist. I really like the crispy chickpea tofu.

So Baby Franchise, who is now 13, wanted to go thrifting and also to Jerry's with me, so we stopped at Fireside Public House in SLiberty for lunch. Had excellent ratings on Yelp. Good food, reasonable price. Mrs. F had the Black and Bleu burger and really liked it- she is a far harsher critic than I am. I had the Nashville Chicken sandwich and it was excellent. Baby had a buffalo chicken sandwich and didn't eat much of it, but she's in a phase of not eating much. I'll probably have it for lunch tomorrow.

Decor and service were meh. The floor was kind of filthy and the institutional gray drapes were falling off the runners. Kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant which if you sit at the bar is probably cool to watch. Service was slow but I'm not in the habit of being too critical in COVID times.

Decent beer list, didn't check out the cocktail list.

Worth a stop if you're in the area.

Oh damn, they have a pickled tea leaf salad. I’ve been trying to fine one since I had it in the Bay Area a few years ago. Soba had something similar on the menu awhile back, but this is awesome. Definitely getting it

Going out to eat.. At least in my neck of the woods.. Is absolutely miserable right now. Everyone is understaffed. Long wait times with half empty restaurants and terrible service (by no fault of the workers).

We've been to in-person dining twice now, and the overwhelming sense is that employees are extremely polite and courteous and helpful. Like, way more than they need to be/have been in the past; it's as if they're thankful.

Yeah, it's not a "people who are there" problem in my experience. It's just slow service and long wait times, despite half empty restaurants.

I took my wife there about 10 years ago. I've been getting their wine newsletter in my spam folder ever since.
