I usually go to Rural King, which is also one of the few things remaining at our mall although we do have a Boscovs and a Penney’s that was supposed to close two years ago but was apparently saved, for dog food. I usually leave with some unique soda for mixing, a pack of some sort of smoked meat, and a tool I didn’t know I needed.

I mentioned in the home improvement thread I'm selling most of my in-laws lawn care stuff that they left us.

This gas chainsaw is basically brand new:

Also, this is the electric mower I talked about. It cleaned up really, really nice:

I already got a hit on this vintage chain saw, started up today after about 20 seconds of pulls:

Family and friends discount to anyone here that might want anything.

I mowed the lawn on Thursday, and it was terrific. Cool outside with a nice breeze. Gotta enjoy these ones before it’s sweltering and humid.

I've had two Facebook marketplace sales canceled due to fender benders. Hmm....

Bought the brushless EGO mower. Damn this thing is nice. Grass was really long. Only got 60% done. Will be curious to see how battery life is with regular mowings

I just recently moved into a new house and I have a plant that looks almost exactly like poison sumac growing in a flower bed near my koi pond. The only differences are the leaves appear to be a little wider and there are two leaves at the end of a branch instead of one. Any clue what it could be?

No, but there are a bunch of iOS and Android apps that let you take a photo of the plant/leaf and it’ll help identify it. My wife has used it a bunch of times for stuff in our garden.

So I started scraping some top soil around our patio that we put in 2 years ago to finally put some edging and rubber mulch around it. And all of a sudden I found water. A BUNCH of water. Under the patio. I'm fearful when they put the patio in (or over time) my downspout pipe that runs parallel to the house and under the patio got crushed... Ugh.

Looks like it is some type of honeysuckle. Thanks again for the app suggestion.

Does Poison Sumac grow around here? I have a severe Ivy allergy but I don't think I ever encountered Oak or Sumac.

It is usually only found near swampy land. There is a water run-off basin behind my house and I live in Montgomery County near Philly where it is more prevalent, but it can still be found in some areas around Pittsburgh. Although, I don't ever remember seeing it as a kid while growing up in Economy.

I'm trying to decide whether I want to risk planting flowers today. No frost is predicted in the 10 day forecast and I hate to wait until mid/late May.

We planted hostas and some lillies a few weeks ago, but nothing else. Hostas survive anything pretty much, but much to my surprise the lillies we planted started blooming yesterday and survived the frost and I didn't even cover them.

Hostas do not survive the roving packs of deer that permeate the North Hills. ;)
