What's slightly concerning is how bad the minor league teams are. Indy is around .500, but Altoona has lost 14 in a row or something. Bradenton not much better. I know they aren't supposed to win per se, but develop players...but the Pirates farm system is supposed to be pretty well stocked. Or so I was told.
This goes to show how rotten the system is to the core. Whatever philosophy they are instructing at every level is killing this org

I can't see them adding Skenes to this mix right now. He's a pretty heady dude from what I can tell, but having to basically pitch a shutout 5th day might be too much for even him.

I'm also starting to think these hitters are trying to get people fired.

Those are all below the line.

I wonder how much longer the organization can go before they ceremoniously chop someone’s head off as way to show that they are committed to winning
They've already gone too long. What's going to happen is they're going to get just far enough out of this slump to win like 11 of 20 or something dumb and think they're fine, then end up with like 72 wins. **** that

Someone said this the other day but the threshold should be more wins than last year. Target should be higher but 76 or less wins should be a full house cleaning again

This is still more of a player development year than a “get wins” year, but wins and player development go hand in hand in this case. The important bats have all stunk. Even the unimportant bats have stunk.

man. rock bottom.

Davis hurts. but mostly because he reflects the trend of the system. take decent hitters and break them. why can't this guy hit fastballs down the middle anymore?

Cutch couldn't hit fastballs to start the year. then he caught up to them but i think his age caught up to him. he's hit 4 or 5 over the last 15 games that i think would have been HR last year that were warning track this year. maybe he needs the weather to warm up.

Bright spots:

Jones
Skenes

Everyone else is either underperforming or performing well in a league below where you want them (AAA etc). Lamb Bae Peggy and Nick are pushing but we've seen them fail before.

Priester could become a bright spot. Perez and Falter are doing the best I could have hoped for. Joe is fine. Mid tier bullpen guys are doing ok. Lauer is about ready.

AAA has some solid stuff going on. German should get his visa soon lol.

Below AAA there is some really good pitching but the offenses are awful.

Greensboro isn't bad overall but here:

Jebb .230 8bb 30k
Brannigan started hot now .205
Termarr .197
Lonnie White started hot now .204 and injured
Siani having the year of his life though 323/403/581

AA

Bowen .183 leads team in abs
Cheng .179

Solometo and Ashcraft struggling some and Chandler having trouble going deep in games.

nothing to report offensively in A ball but misery.

You can't adequately develop players in a losing culture. You don't have to be the Dodgers, but you have to win games or be held accountable for not winning games.

Lonnie White sure gets injured a lot for a dude who was contemplating a football scholarship. Should thank his lucky stars he chose baseball and bonus because his football career would have ended durijg freshman camp.

At this point I have zero faith in Termarr amounting to anything. This organization ruins hitters. Plain and simple.

Can we name more than 5 legit hitters that have been drafted/internationally signed by the Pirates and had respectable, All-Star careers since 1993?

McCutchen
Walker
Marte
Kendall
Aramis Ramirez? Can’t remember if he had more than 1 good season with PIT

Not making the cut but had ok careers/1 big season:

Alvarez
Kevin Young
Harrison
Bell

Subjecting myself to the game today.

Hayes and Reynolds look like ass. I don’t know how they haven’t fired Shelton/haines yet

5 more scoreless innings but that's secondary to the fact that the opposing pitcher has already thrown 79 pitches. Better than a win IMO

Jones allows one hit over six innings, strikes out eight, and none of it matters. Hard to get excited about Skenes

If you wanted people who played at least one season with the Pirates, you didn't specify in the first part ;)

Listened to the cherington radio show.

If I am understanding, they are rating pitch selection and contact quality as the two metrics they are interested in. Which I guess makes sense. But it’s not though, because he’s holding on to some notion that the results are trailing behind those. Meaning that the offense should better based on the made up results on those two subjective metrics they’ve decided are important.

I think they need to clean house, this front office thinks they know more than everyone else
