Also interesting to note: Pedro Florimon homered again today. Starting to think he will win the last bench spot on the roster. Lambo hasn't done much and Decker is hurt (although he said he feels a lot better today)

Is Tony Sanchez over the hump of being the North Shore's Beau Bennett? Can't stress how huge that would be if this spring wasn't a fluke and he came into form. Also, what cleared the benches in the game today? I real quick caught Madden saying it started with a player getting into it with a fan, then spilled over to both dugouts. How the heck does that happen?

I assume that Rocco is going to show up on opening day, with quite a bit of WWE fanfare.

I know that it's just spring but Pedro is looking respectable so far, probably because most games are during the day.
That beard is freaky looking though.
I think baseball needs more mustaches, especially on pitchers and utility infielders. Guys like Eckersley and...Jeff Reboulet know what I'm talking about.

Picking Locke over Worley is dumb.
How have both fared in spring training? Locke would be one of two lefty's so maybe that plays a part.

Fairly similar, SSS considered. Scratch that, ERAs aren't far off nor are runs allowed but Worley has a far superior WHIP so far this spring 1.06-1.76. Regardless, I think it's better to go with Worley because he did well as the #5 last year. I don't think Locke is someone I'd trust except as a spot starter/long reliever.

I am sure it 100% has to do with the L/R issue.

If the stats are similar I don't have an issue with putting Locke in the rotation early and see how he fares. As others have suggested its prob just wanting another lefty. That and he's known to have the Marc-Andre Fleury medulla oblongata and putting him in the pen would kill his psyche apparently.

spring stats may be similar but last years stats are not by any stretch Worley's FIP was almost a run better, fewer walks & HR/9 and a similar K/9. If you like WAR Worley was 1.6, Locke was 0.3 despite pitching 20 more innings.

I'm guessing Locke will be on a very short leash.

Locke is a first half pitcher, Worley is a 2nd half pitcher.

Oh no doubt. I'm about as low on Jeff Locke as you can get but I'm not high enough on Worley that I mind the decision. I fully expect Locke to not be in the rotation by the all star break and that's being generous.

Though the situation with Holdzkom makes some sense, he has options and wasn't great in ST.

Pedro mashed this spring. Haven't heard much on his defense at first, so I guess that's a good thing. If he hits like 2013 Pedro and can stay in the lineup this team might hit 95+ wins. Too bad the Cubbies are competent again.

For selfish reasons, Vance Worley is this gentleman's choice because Jeff Locke takes forever between pitches and also throws too many pitches. Worley just gets his work done out there.

Plus last year saw Vanimal at Paige dairy mart and he treated his wife with respect

Can anyone explain to me why the "Why is the Pirates Payroll Big Enough?" cheap newspaper/radio bit still a thing?

It is the lowest hanging fruit and the path of least resistance. There are many issues in pgh sports right now, especially with the Pens and stillers, but it us easier to bash nutting

I think the nuttings and the current management team have done an unbelievable job in the past 8 years.

I also am disappointed that the payroll isn't 15-20mm more based on the information available to me.

These are not mutually exclusive.
