My previous home had an attic fan that worked wonders. It was a 1000+ sq ft ranch, so it wasn't that hard to cool. Only on 90+ degree days did I have the A/C on.

During the summer in our old townhouse the thermostat on the main floor would be set at 68 degrees so the upstairs bedrooms could hopefully stay below 80. It was miserable.

This is us. So at night-time, would you just set the downstairs to like 78 and the upstairs at 70 or something? I assume it would cost a fortune to dual zone a home?

Our previous home is where we had to do that. Main floor was set at 68 around the clock in an attempt to deal with the heat and humidity upstairs. The new house that is dual-zoned with a single AC unit has a control unit that varies the position of dampers in the main floor/basement supply duct and second-floor supply duct to control how much air goes to each floor based on need. The second floor supply also comes up out of the basement through a dead space between the garage entry and a closet, goes up into the attic, and then from the attic air is supplied to the rooms through ceiling vents. Growing up in an old house and then owning an older townhouse, I'd never experienced an HVAC system set up this way.

The house is about 3,300 square feet and we've had both floors set at 72 degrees with no issue. Electric bill last month was like $35, but it's hard to get any read from that since the temperature has been so cool. One of these days I'll get around to programming the thermostats so it won't bother keeping the main floor at 72 degrees while we're sleeping.

We have cathedral ceilings in the great room of our new house (ranch). When you turn the ceiling fan on it gets about 5 degrees hotter with it pushing all the warm air down.

I've never named a vehicle before, but I'm thinking of calling this one "Apollo 13," since there is only a very slim chance of it making the return journey.

He sure did! What a great time. Made a bunch of new friends at surrounding camps, hung out with 20+ awesome people, was able to swindle us another camp spot so that we could setup a megacamp, saw tons of great acts (Nora en Pure <3), met Andrew McMahon, didn't ruin my face...couldn't have asked for a better time...

He sure did! What a great time. Made a bunch of new friends at surrounding camps, hung out with 20+ awesome people, was able to swindle us another camp spot so that we could setup a megacamp, saw tons of great acts (Nora en Pure <3), met Andrew McMahon, didn't ruin my face...couldn't have asked for a better time...

Weekend was solid. We pulled off a miracle and got our buddy to finally puke. It's been a work in progress for at least 6 years.

Oh that's always good! Way to sewer an iron man...

I think I'm going to try the Beyond Burger soon. Doesn't hurt to cut back on the meat consumption, although I don't eat nearly as much meat anymore to begin with.

Hopefully all of yinz flocking to a burger patty made from pea protein, canola oil, bamboo wood fiber, and salt just serves to lower the price of beef for the rest of us. That **** is highly processed and in no way is healthier for you that eating red meat.

Yeah, that's one of the aspects of many vegetarian/vegan diets that has always puzzled me...they are often very heavy on processed foods.

I don't eat red meat because it sits in your intestines and makes other food harder to digest and it's also pretty rough in its own right...potential to do some damage...

I rarely eat things like beyond meat...as I don't have great use for burgers with all the chicken patties around...but red meat is probably the most fun way for fatties to get ass cancer...

Interesting (and maybe too heavy for this thread) but scientists have linked the increase in processed food consumption with - wait for it - autism.
