I haven't been to a Wegmans, although one is set to open here in the fall, but Publix >>> any other grocery store I've regularly shopped in. The worst was the U-Save in Ft. Myers. Lots of expired foods, including luncheon meats, on the shelves.
Publix subs are top shelf.

Wegmans here in State College is awesome. I'm planning on going there for lunch today. Great sushi.

There was a Bi-Lo in Blairsville but it closed about a decade ago.

I've got a friend in Erie who raves about Wegman's. I've never stopped in to check it out when I am up there, though.

It's a grocery store... people get all loony about it, but at the end of the day: it's a grocery store. The one in State College has a decent cafe. The produce is on par, if not a little worse than some of the other local stores. The Wegmans brand stuff is all decent. There are people that drive hours to get to one of them, and those people are insane.

I've always heard great things about Wegman's, though have only ever had stuff like steaks and prime rib. We go to Fresh Market when we want nicer quality stuff than our local grocery store (Giant) offers.

Heh, I remember Giant. We had one nearby when we lived in Maryland. I believe the three in that area were Giant, Safeway, and Food Lion.

While on this topic, I still can't believe how expensive Giant Eagle is. Nearly everything in Western PA is cheaper than this area, and it's like Giant Eagle took that as a challenge.

We usually go up to Erie on Saturday to hit Wegman's. It's about a 20 minute drive, but we usually also stop at a butcher shop and a local bakery up there. There are people that drive hours to get to one of them, and those people are insane.

Wegmans are very nice, I use the one in Jamestown, NY quite a bit. We have a Bi-Lo in town, they have a good butcher. Our goto store is Martin's, likey very much.

One thing that State College is missing (other than a soul, amirite pittclique?!?!?) is a good butcher.

Martin's (not the store) "Big Marty" seeded hamburger buns are my go-to for burgers.

I believe they also go by "GIANT", but around here call themselves Martin's because of IggleAh, Martin's. There was one of those in MD, too. Forgot all about it.

Does anyone else call them "Spread Eagle?" My dad did that when we lived up there.
