Love kimbrel but love the trade more. Lose best closer in baseball, but gain a pretty nice prospect in wisler, dump bj upton's entire contract, and now hVe an mlb calibre outfield.

Yeah a top notch closer is an unnecessary asset for a retooling team... good trade both ways

This also boosts kimbrels value for my fantasy team. So thats always nice. Also...i have wisler, so i added another braves pitcher. In one offseason the braves went from probably a bottom 3 system to a top 5-7 system.

Did the padres take that whole contract?

If so, huge win for the braves

Am I the only one who thinks the Cubs are insanely overrated.

The padres look desperate.

The cubs will be good when Russell and Bryant are in the lineup. People are jumping the gun way too early on them, their lineup was pretty garbage after rizzo cause Castro is still an enigma and they can't count on him being the clean up guy

I think they're overrated just because they're so young. Even just being close to making the playoffs would be a success.

also, I forgot the Red Sox open against the Phillies. ugh, interleague play means absolutely nothing anymore.

Currently. Jumping the gun early on them, as was mentioned. Down the line, though? Scary.

Guess this is the non Pirates thread for 2015?

Toronto might have the best 3-5 hitters in baseball, and already a homerun from that group (Martin with a 2 run hit)

Cespedes with the first "web gem" of the year with the robbing of a homerun.

Houston is such a bad sports town. Opening day, nice enough to have the roof open, and Minute Maid looks like it's 1/2 full, tops.

Teheran had a nice start for the Braves, but I think the multiple rain delays got to him. In the 7th he loaded the bases then somehow Avilan got them out of it with a double play and then Jim Johnson got them out of it. Ol' reliable Jason Grilli came in for the save. This could very easily be the only point all year that they have a winning record.

Even then, you're asking a lot from two rookies. This year, they miss the playoffs. Next year, challenge for division and wildcard. Then, should be great. Who knows where pitching will be though.

Yeah, pulled that one out of the fire. Bases loaded no outs, and then the double play just opened up a house of horrors for the Marlins...including the guy who ate it trying to bunt his way on...

Yankees fans on WFAN calling for Garrett Jones to take over at 3B.
Yes, I said third.

Well, his .286 average is highest on the team, which is pathetic for this early, so I say let him play wherever he wants.

He is going to primarly be a DH, but he did play 1B the other day.

And boy was it a good show. Nothing like watching a 40 year old baseball player learn a completely new position. I hope he keeps catching throws with both hands, pulling himself off the bag with bad footwork, and opening the glove during a catch just to make sure he didn't drop it.
