If tonight doesn’t make the GOP ditch Trump and go with DeSantis, I’m not sure what will.
It's not a viable party unless they divorce from Trump. The trump- backed candidates in battleground states didn't do ****.

They overestimated the impact of Trump eliciting whacko turnout vs. pushing normal or more moderate conservatives to vote the other way
Been saying this. I think/know Trump is bad for the GOP in the overall election. In the republican primaries, the Trump MAGA extreme people will win, but in the general election, they won't for the most part. I think too many people, including moderate republicans either will vote D or not vote at all.

Also this 2022 flop from trump candidates is going to probably push the desantis camp to running. I think a 2024 gop primary is going to be amazing

It's already happening. Lots of conservative talking heads already saying Trump isn't a viable 2024 candidate and that the party needs to move on. Gonna be interesting.

I can't think of a worst candidate for any political office.

Weren't the Dems buying ads to promote him during primaries knowing he'd be an easy win (for the Dems) come yesterday? Or was that someone else.

In a major loss, Trump-backed Republican Bo Hines has lost to Democrat Wiley Nickel in North Carolina’s 13th congressional district. FiveThirtyEight had predicted Hines to have a 77 percent chance of winning.

Nickel leads Hines 51.32 percent to 48.68 percent, with all precincts reporting.

Hines, whose campaign received over $775,000 from his family’s trust fund, enjoyed support from former President Donald Trump, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and outgoing North Carolina Representative Madison Cawthorn.

It's going to be interesting, because the GOP have their reasoning to dump Trump. They should have showed out yesterday, and it doesn't look like they're going to have the power they thought they'd have.

Trump can hold them hostage, because his ego won't allow it - and I could envision a scenario where he runs as independent because he can't just take his ball and go home.

Kari Lake is losing in Arizona. Blake Masters is too, by a wider margin.

This is a pretty clear repudiation imo.

The only issue is if it's not Trump, it'll just be a Trump 2.0 candidate

These polls come from and go straight back into the garbage.

This is my hope. Republican Party finally has the courage to shift away from Trump, DeSantis (who will likely come off just as polarizing to moderates) gets the nomination and Trump, needing to keep the fundraising ruse rolling, runs as his own MAGA party candidate. Neither would have a chance in hell of winning.

Fetterman may be flawed but he is a Real Pennsylvanian. OZ can go home now and maybe try to run again in the half dozen or so states he owns a residence in.

Abortion rights were likely a bigger reason for the red trickle than Trump. The GOP lost their momentum the moment Roe v Wade went away.

If they really want to become a viable party, not only do they need to move away from Trump, but they need to accept the fact that abortion rights are extremely important to voters.
