Yeah... it's a pandemic. Deaths are going to happen. Many aren't necessarily preventable. This one feels like it wasn't bound to happen if precautions were followed. As others have noted, his death can be sad but preventable at the same time, and it would've been preventable had he not hitched his wagon to the Trump train and consistently ignored best practices in a pandemic.

Well family decided to see each other on Christmas. I was considered the a-hole since I was against it and everyone stayed home the last month and blah blah. Well wouldn’t you know it my dummy B and S iL actually didn’t stay home the last month and took their kids to an indoor water park one state over a week before. But they “did the research” and it isn’t “in a hot zone” and “they can’t see not living their lives” and “the kids are being punished for no reason through all this.” Well thanks a-holes now the whole family is infected. (Officially 4 of us who have been rapid tested) SiL back positive but is asymptomatic, but “we’ll never know for sure where it came from.”

Oh well, plant corn etc. for gathering. I’m still considered the a-hole now because I told them so. Hopefully everyone comes out okay.

To me, I think it's fine if your B and Sil want to do stuff, I kind of lean between the "gotta live life" but also be careful (I'd never go to a water park right now though). But what would have pissed me off is if everyone agreed to quarantine before getting together, they don't tell you they went somewhere, and then you only find out during the visit or after. That's wrong IMO.

To me, if we go anywhere, and then are meeting up with someone, we always tell them "hey, we were just here" so they can make an informed decision if they still want to come in contact with us or not, and the vast majority of people in my family or we are friends with do the same with us. Allow people to make informed decisions and don't hide stuff.

My 3 BiLs are hard Rs, their wives tend to go with them.

FiL has always voted D until the last two elections because he was totally disenfranchised by the D picks the last two elections.

Me, my wife, and my MiL are the only ones who have taken this seriously.
