i was kind of kidding when I said Taillon and Bell but tbh those are the perfect sort of guys for this situation. Can we do something like those two and a Pollock/Duvall/Pham type for 40-45 mil? these hypotheticals obviously assume anyone wants to sign here

Also depressing here because there are no guys in line for a massive raise anytime soon. Hayes' contract is front loaded, his salary will start getting lower, Reynolds' looks like a guy that might get to 15mm in 2025, Keller and Brubaker will hit their first year of arb at under 2.5, which puts a pretty limited cap on what they can ultimately earn in their arb years.next year's payroll is looking to be bottom barrel at the moment.. they were at 110 mil IIRC during the "good years" - why can't they even spend 40 mil and get to 80 or so and at least give us a watchable team, this isn't too much to ask for
So there's no like "the payroll will rise as the team matures" thing going on here, they are in the ~50mm payroll range for their full 25/26 man roster. There are no constraints to them giving 20mm out to two guys for 5+ years and exceeding the 100mm threshold.

I think Taillon is a 3 year 39 type contract, bell might be 20mm per, but could probably do that for only 2 years. Those last three feel like 1 year 8mm type signings.i was kind of kidding when I said Taillon and Bell but tbh those are the perfect sort of guys for this situation. But the answer is no, they aren't going to spend.

It's just maddening knowing that if they did something like that package, they'd at least be interesting enough to have a shot at a WC spot and create goodwill with fans and sell tickets. But, nah. Why would we wanna do that

It's cheaper to play the lottery and see if Castro, suwinski, Mitchell, bae, etc are capable of being guys that can have a few seasons of 2.5 to 5 WAR production. In all likelihood, these guys end up topping out at 2 WAR max.

All bae does is hit. Glad we waited until October to let him play

Predictions Summary:
SDD 56-105
Beveridge 57-104
Ad@m 58-104
Robbiestoupe 59-103
KTK 60-102
Skullman 60-101
Morkle 62-100
Dickie Dunn 62-100
Faftorial 64-98
King Colby 68-94
Ulf 69-93
DG66 69-93
Gaucho 78-86
After winning last year, TL didn't make a prediction this year. Shameful behavior honestly. A win today and Morkle and yours truly get to split the title of smartest person on the board. A loss and we all get to feel empty shame for continuing to pay attention to this car crash. skullman gets to feel extra shame for his "rain out" prediction that cost him a 1 in the L column.

One sacrificed his bumbling career for a taste of one of the finest pieces in the land and the other couldn't hit a homerun on a t-ball field. L on both predictions.I think 1 of these 2 has a good yearKevin Newman and Cole Tucker are both likely to be regular

Lots of folks really close there, I don’t remember why I didn’t make a prediction. I think I was just annoyed at that stage with the volume of trash on the 40-man and how much of that trash they brought with them from Bradenton

How do their ages compare? I'm thinking Bonds was 2-3 years younger his rookie season?

Bonds was almost a year younger than Cruz when he made his debut.
