My recollection was off, I though the Alien ripoff JC worked on for Corman was Xenogenesis.

An example of some of Cameron's design prowess from Battle Beyond The Stars:

Started LOTR with the two older boys today but it got too late and we had to stop part way through. They’re into it though

My wife may not have an assignment for work tomorrow so I’m considering playing hooky and going to see Dune with her. Been a long time since we had a date night

Was never a fan of the movie but always admired the creativity Hocus Pocus showed in having a horse as a witch. First and only time in history as far as I know.

All the faith in the world in Denis Villeneuve's ability to movie the hell outta this, but Jodorowsky's Dune ruined me for any other cinematic expressions of the IP. It's better as a yarn about the movie he wanted to make than any actual movie could be.

I can’t believe this Halloween Kills effect was practical. (Sorry for the click bait but I don’t want to spoil anything)

I just assumed they went the Disney route but holy **** what a prosthetic.

Yeah, that movie probably wouldn't be Dune, but man would it be something.

Watched Dune again yesterday. Not that I'm just realizing it now, but Villeneuve can make a movie. the test is going to come from part two when it gets crazy. I'll be very interested to see how he tackles that. Lynch came closer than a lot of people give him credit for, but it sort of came apart in the 2nd half.

I got goosebumps
when they ended part one with the worm rider, can't wait to see more of that in the next part sans toto guitar shredding

Going to see Dune at 1 today. I’m kind of glad it’s been a few years since I read the book. I’d rather just enjoy this movie than nitpick it to death bc it doesn’t follow the book for whatever reason.

Cool, enjoy! I too hate the comparison, but in this case it just really built a better foundation for following the story for me.

Perfect movie to see in a theater. Wife loved it too. Wasn’t sure what her reaction would be as it did get a little weird at points.

Arbitrary power rankings of Pittsburgh based action movies:

Batman
Sudden Death
Jack Reacher
Next Three Days
Striking Distance

Reacher is rated above the other two becuase it wasn't a bad movie. Its a tough call because next three days might have had the best pgh porn
Inspector Gadget has the best Pgh scenes that I've ever seen.

Why is it being taken off of HBO Max already? It's in the Just Added and Last Chance categories, leaving on 10/31.

I just heard about this. Was David Chase running it or did he farm it out to someone?

It’s part of Warner Bros same-day premieres that are up for a month or so like Dune, Space Jam, Suicide Squad, etc. If it wasn’t for Covid it would’ve had a exclusive theatrical release.

Last 3 movies for our 31 horror movies in 31 days of Halloween/October

The Babysitter (Netflix) -- This was campy fun that reminded me of 80's horror. It didn't take itself seriously and was a lot of fun
Get Out -- Really Good
Us -- Also really good.. but I think I liked Get Out more.
