That sounds nice.

My parents are divorced and remarried, so those holidays are usually a circuit course to make sure everyone gets their face time. Have to hit at least three 'dinners' between Latrobe and Beallsville. We've started just doing Christmas/Thanksgiving on our own and visiting in the summer.

I guess I'm just in the wrong to think it's completely inappropriate to try and establish the line where it is justifiable to hit a woman for damage to an inanimate object.
Who's doing that? Is it possible you may be over reacting?

We tried hitting up both families for both holidays once. Never again. It's just one of those things that they're going to have to get used to. We still go to my parent's and visit a few days after Christmas, but it's typically just popping in to say hi and hang out for a while.

I may be misunderstanding the intention of your post. But I think you lack some perspective if you make a post congratulating an acquaintance for not hitting a woman for throwing his iphone in the toilet.

My birthday is Christmas week (thanks Jesus) so it ends up just being stressful. In a perfect world it'd be Thanksgiving at my Dad's, and Christmas with my Mom and the in-laws. Now that we live 11hrs away it just doesn't work. At least we don't have kids, that would ratchet it up 10-fold.

We typically spend a long weekend right around the Christmas at my inlaws to celebrate with them since they are out of town.

Then we spend X-mas Eve with my family and then X-mas day with my wife and the kids. Works pretty well.

They'd all have to come to you. That would be a painful drive since you wouldn't be flying.

Now that we are the "out of town" family I am hoping that means Thanksgiving and Christmas on our own without visiting family.

I think it is a crime to have kids wake up Christmas morning somewhere other than their own house.

We usually move them to the neighbors house while they sleep so when they wake up, they are really confused. Our neighbors are a family of ostriches.

We typically spend Thanksgiving with my family which involves shooting guns, splitting wood, and enjoying mom's way overcooked turkey and soggy green bean casserole. We play cards, drink lots of beer, and then all fall asleep at about 8 o'clock.

We spend Christmas with her family. Christmas eve, her brother-in-law and I cook up a meal fit for a king. Usually involves prime rib and some sort of poultry (last year it was a fried duck). We open presents, also play cards and drink lots of beer, and then fall asleep around 8 o'clock.
Omg that sounds awesome!
Yeah, I meant traditions and such.
I've been thinking about it lately.

Kaiser's mum is moving closer to us. About ten minutes away. I'm hoping she comes over a lot.
Idk what Christmas will be like now. It's going to be my first Christmas with her. I've been saving up coffee for her. But I really want to get her something special.

Kaiser's family is amazing. His parents are divorced but his mother visits her ex mother in law and is going to be living with her for a bit. His father still visits Kaiser's mother.

Part of me wishes they would get back together, but I'm not sure. It might be too soon to think that. I feel guilty but still, they kid around and talk to each other. Sometimes all of us "kids" leave them be and they just go on talking. It's so adorable!

Thanksgiving and Christmas are exactly the same at my family's except one has decorations and presents.

But everything else is basically the same. We wake up we start cooking. If it's Thanksgiving we decorate for Christmas. If it's Christmas we bask in the glory of holiday lighting.

Then it's just eating and drinking into a coma. Usually we watch a movie when we are tired and then fall asleep.

On Christmas Eve we only eat sea food (They live in a super Roman Catholic area) and watch pbs Christmas specials likethe black and white A Christmas Carol and my mother and I go to either the chapel or midnight mass. And then we come home and lie in bed until 4-6 am until my brother stomps downstairs.

Those are the best three days of every year.
Everyone is together happy, safe, and healthy (until food)
