Star Wars Minute just had an hour and a half episode discussing the Phantom Menace trailer. The minute by minute Phantom Menace review begins in January so this is a nice preview of what to expect.

This R2 says hi.
I modified one of these with a basic stamp for a project at community college, I am going to need to dig him up and rebuild him with a PIC microcontroller. BB-8 is cool but R2 is better.
Also in that link for the BB-8 toy, the self build is far far cooler.

I saw a post somewhere else online that I think is a dead on astute observation:
go back to when the prequels came out. who was plastered on everything (cereal, doritos, mt dew, etc)? yoda, r2d2, darth maul, darth vader, c3po. and why? because Lucas didn't have to pay Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christainsen, etc for their likeness.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but these Pepsi cans feature everyone:Miami Vice wrote:I saw a post somewhere else online that I think is a dead on astute observation:

I used to have all of those.

Publicity rights are typically covered in the employment agreement, and they don't always provide for additional costs for merchandising. Especially for someone like Christiansen, who at that point had no resume or clout.Miami Vice wrote:I saw a post somewhere else online that I think is a dead on astute observation:

I don't think there was a problem with the prequel casts - theres a lot of acting awards and nominations between them. they were just given the laziest direction and the worst dialogue to act out in front of a green screen by a director sipping coffee in front of a monitor.

No amount of talent could have saved the prequels.

Just read that as well. Looked up Star Wars: Aftermath on Amazon and apparently it sucks. Disappointed I am.

I think I made the smart move of cancelling my preorder, too bad, he's a good author and the potential is certainly thereDickie Dunn wrote:Just read that as well. Looked up Star Wars: Aftermath on Amazon and apparently it sucks. Disappointed I am.

and the author responds to criticism of his book...
seems to me that it was a combination of those against that and quite frankly that it was poorly written. I've read a few of his books and while they are page turners, I'm not sure I'd call him a "good writer". I enjoyed his style for what it portrayed on paper, but I never thought there was an issue with content vs writing.
http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2 ... otagonist/“If you’re upset because I put gay characters and a gay protagonist in the book, I got nothing for you. Sorry, you squawking saurian — meteor’s coming. And it’s a fabulously gay Nyan Cat meteor with a rainbow trailing behind it and your mode of thought will be extinct. You’re not the Rebel Alliance. You’re not the good guys. You’re the **** Empire, man. You’re the shitty, oppressive, totalitarian Empire. If you can imagine a world where Luke Skywalker would be irritated that there were gay people around him, you completely missed the point of ‘Star Wars.’ It’s like trying to picture Jesus kicking lepers in the throat instead of curing them. Stop being the Empire. Join the Rebel Alliance. We have love and inclusion and great music and cute droids.
“(By the way, the book also has an older woman, a mother, rescuing a man. So if that bothers you, you might wanna find a bunker for hunkering down. And I dunno if you noticed, but the three new protagonists of the movie consist of a woman, a black man, a Latino man. The bad guys all look like white guys, too. So many meteors. So little time to squawk at them.)”

Did that guy just compare homosexuality to a disease to be cured like leprosy?

No, and I hope that wasn't a serious question.Craig wrote:Did that guy just compare homosexuality to a disease to be cured like leprosy?

Well it was rhetorical because he did, but it wasnt serious.

yeah, that didn't really didn't do him any favors with that quote.Craig wrote:Did that guy just compare homosexuality to a disease to be cured like leprosy?
edit: I just went on and read some of the amazon reviews and a lot of people are basically giving it 1 star because there are gay characters and that's it. I'm fine with what he said, but like I said earlier, he has a different style of writing and I'm sure a lot of people didn't resonate with that and their star wars world.
