Thanksgiving vs. Christmas: Which do you prefer?
I was going to make a joke about the matchup for that day, but just realized that it's a Steelers/Ratbirds home game. Thanksgiving still has my vote, however.Christmas is on Sunday this year and the NFL ain't making room for Jesus.Source of the post football games.

That's just a convenient calendar coincidence this year. Thanksgiving football is a given every year.
Thanksgiving vs. Christmas: Which do you prefer?
Christmas because its always a big party
Feast of the 7 fishes + cookies + extended family
New years right around the corner... so plans are usually forming around Christmas.
My age, girls are usually on break from school and they're all feelsy around Christmas time

Oddly enough, I prefer to go shopping on Thanksgiving. I bought my gun safe last year on Thanksgiving because of a sweet deal.

I'm going with Thanksgiving. I'm pretty much too old to give or get anything for Christmas (except from myself), and the food is generally better at Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving vs. Christmas: Which do you prefer?
Growing up Thanksgiving was basically all the food from Christmas, no gifts, no church and maybe decorating before and after dinner (way after).
The entire process for both is ritualized in our family. The food is the same process. The rest of course is different as we don't need to buy gifts for Thanksgiving (Thanksgiving is the gift).
My favorite part about Christmas other than spending time with my family and buying them stuff is the decorations which I don't get on Thanksgiving.
I probably could and will one day but even if I do, the brown, bronze, burnt colors of fall are like a bait and switch compared to the vibrant Christmas colors and lights. It's like an opening band. Christmas is Led Zeppelin. Thanksgiving is ..idk..whoever opened for Led Zeppelin.
But I love both holidays. I can't imagine not having either of them. And ultimately I can't choose one over the other.

Wow I was super spot on without knowing it.
Also I need to brush up on music history. I'm ashamed of myself.

Another vote for Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I might change my vote now.

Christmas. Where I grew up, family was immediate family. Gifts given were well received and appreciated before going outside to see what Santa brought to local friends. Childhood was about sharing.
Thanksgiving was about the circle of family. Uncles, Aunts, Cousins ... Other school friends that we met up with on Saturday. That cool turkey paper cut out with different shades of grey and orange .... well, was paper and went away.
Today, the first local FM channel plunged into Christmas music.
Color me Christmas.

re: All I Want For Christmas Is You.
You can hate the cheesy lyrics all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that from a music standpoint it's pretty much an immaculately-written pop song.
