You know what really grinds my gears...

I'm not sure; maybe I didn't.

My SIL doesn't like long flights, so she wanted to fly to San Francisco first and then fly from there to Tokyo in order to keep the international leg of the outbound trip as short as possible. Because we needed to fly back from Osaka, it turned out that United was our airline because they were the only carrier flying from Osaka back to the US that did not fly into LAX. My SIL also hates LAX with a passion. But United at the time used a 747 for its SFO -> NRT flights, and those aircraft are some of the oldest in the fleet and lack modern amenities (no in-seat power or entertainment screens in economy, for example). I noticed that United's flights from Denver to Narita used Dreamliners and were only an hour longer, so we went through there to get the better "experience" The flight from Osaka back to SFO was also a 787. Those flights were the first times I was on a widebody, so I don't have a basis for comparison, but I thought it was a really sweet aircraft. Very quiet, relatively speaking, and I didn't notice any nasal stuffiness or anything like that even though they were 10+ hour flights.

I flew on 777 from Atlanta to NYC (and it then went to Mumbai). That thing was a beast.

I'm supposed to fly to Hilton Head tomorrow morning (on a little CRJ-200), but the forecast shows thunderstorms from tonight through next year, apparently.

I wouldn't worry about it. "85F and 50% chance of T-storms" is the default coastal Carolina forecast. It keeps the Chamber of Commerce happy without making the forecasters look like complete frauds.

The storms are in our area (Philly). I swear this happens nearly every single year we fly to HH.

I have a manager that promises upper management the moon and back when it comes to our team. Case in point, there is a list of 80 or so "high priority" job openings with our firm that the CEO and Director of HR expect to ALL be filled by a certain date. Long story short, this is impossible. Most of these openings are highly skilled engineering positions. I'm already neglecting the rest of my work load to work on this "high priority" list, but I can't magically create qualified candidates out of thin air.

We already have a call scheduled for this morning, titled "How do we achieve our goal 3 a day"? This is the magic number we are supposed to hit to fill all the jobs by the end date. I think I'm finally going to be unleashed this morning.

That's no bueno. This is a pretty potent storm system that is moving in tonight, most models are showing 2+" of rain.

I fully expect at least a 2-hour delay, since the flight is at 9am in the thick of it all.

As a job seeker I'm always astounded when I hear HR people complain about not having qualified candidates.

Lower your standards already. ;)

If you're lucky they'll let you know before you leave so you can at least spend the waiting time at home. Or, you know, drive.

Yeah, I'm not making that 12-hour drive with my 3 year old. We tried it last year, got to VA and turned around (she threw up at least 3 times on that trip). Barring a cancellation, I'll still head to the airport just to be safe.

Usually these are Florida-like late PM thunderstorms. I live 3+ hours away from HHI, but we've had mid-upper 90s for three weeks now and very high humidity, which leads to these violent storms in the afternoon. They are usually in and out in an hour though...

I'd rather have the storm while in HH than while I wait for a flight to get there. :)

I don't want to be disrespectful but the type of people who keep saying things like "It's your duty to keep Trump out of office" or "you can't complain if you don't vote" or "you're a coward if you don't vote" ... they tend to be girls and they tend to be the type of girls who idk how to say this exactly, but if they have a bf they take on the beliefs of that bf. If some sort of shooting is going on they make a comment about it and throw a potluck or something.
If someone like Cory Booker says it Im like ok fine you know what you're talking about. But these girls have never shown any interest in politics and all of a sudden they're spewing out bullying bulls$$$ to show how much they care. It was making me roll my eyes at first and then I realized, wow, these are the people responsible for our current state of affairs.

But if you're the type of girl who likes sports only when their bf is around, or likes anything just bc a boy says it and then turns around and points the finger at other girls bc they actually think for themselves and you're threatened by it, just be quiet.

Your social causes are makeup (not that makeup isn't an important social cause to Talk about) but I'm just saying none of these people understand the financial crisis, none of them really care. They just want to be relevant and now they're trying to show how passionate they are by "starting dialogue"

I mean are you serious?

One day a month my company has cake for everyone and we celebrate that month's birthdays and sing 'Happy Birthday'. It's a whole production. Today was cake day. We have six employees with July birthdays. Five are on PTO, one is AWOL. We still had to sing.

I drew the duck blue because I'd never seen a blue duck before and I wanted to see a blue duck.
