Black Lives Matter Vancouver is asking police to voluntarily withdraw its float from the upcoming Pride Parade, as a "show of solidarity and understanding" that officer involvement in the march creates an unsafe atmosphere for some communities.

The open letter published by the activist group on Friday comes weeks after its Toronto counterparts halted the city's parade until organizers signed off on a list of demands including banning police
floats from future marches.

"We acknowledge that in certain contexts police presence to perform a job of civil service may deter acts of homophobia and violence, especially at designated queer events such as Pride," the letter said.

"However, we cannot divorce the policing institution from its historical and continued violence against Indigenous and (minority) communities, racial profiling, or inaction around our missing Indigenous women."

A guy on Reddit did a good job of laying out the obvious signs that Erdogan plotted and planned this "coup" himself in order to consolidate his own power.

He leaves the country, and the coup happens while he's gone! How convenient.

He's essentially protected by F-16's that were apparently in rebel hands.

Since the begging of him taking high office, he's done absolutely everything to declaw the military from staging a future coup (Turkey has a history of military coups).

By staging this coup, he was able to bring out anyone that'd oppose him into the light, essentially cleaning house. Not only that but he can accuse anyone he doesn't like and simply slap a label on them and that's that.

He purged the majority of all judges, assuming the new judges will be screened to his liking. So when these thousands of people go trial, Erdogan need not worry about the outcome.

The cleric that lives in the US state of Pennsylvania governed in Turkey as someone that wanted to change the country through political means, not by military means.

By painting an exiled politician, you're easily able to paint a picture of 'revenge'. He's an easy target.

Calling the US an enemy happened almost immediately after his return to Turkey. He said there could be another military coup.. him saying that is fear mongering but also a precursor for the US becoming the bad guy.

He said that anyone who supports the cleric may find themselves at war with Turkey. He then proceeds to say that Obama should arrest and/or extradite him to Turkey.

Obama isn't going to turn him over in these circumstance.. Kerry said the US would merely 'entertain the idea' if evidence was brought forward showing he was responsible for the coup.. that'll never happen. Erdogan knew the US response, the ease of painting the US as an enemy, and the support he'd get for opposing 'the empire'.

And the jets.. the F-16's that could have easily shot down his plane. Why in the world would you not shoot down the head of the snake? So he can turn around and execute you? No. That's absurd.

It's hard to envision a scenario where Marilyn Mosby is not brought before the Maryland Bar. I think she saw the Freddie Gray case has her ticket to a higher political office, went hog wild pursuing charges on anyone affiliated with Gray's death, and realized after that she had thrown way too much crap at the wall.

What a horribly botched prosecution.

So apparently a chunk of Melania's speech was lifted practically word-for-word from Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech. It's not a whole lot, but enough that she'd get bounced out of school if she turned in a paper that 'borrowed' so openly. It seems like an obvious smear job by whoever wrote it. (I know Melania claims she wrote it, but I think there's zero chance she did.)

The response from Herr Trump will be interesting.
