I know we're not focusing on this but it's been almost an hour since an NHR post on LGP. That's not normal...
I do feel bad. Seems like admin is a good guy. It is what it is I guess

Checked out handbook and there is nothing in there about this kind of situation, on either side. I would not be going into OT and she CERTAINLY knows I have enough work. I basically do the job of 2 people and I have essentially had to ignore one of those jobs this entire week so I have a lot of work to do. Those 3 hours are going to cost me next week...

So I had to come in late today due to a family issue. I got here 3 hours after my usual start time. I asked if I could make up the 3 hours tomorrow by working from 8-7:30 instead of my usual 8-4:30. I was told that I could not because "we have no pressing needs or deadlines at the moment" and that I would have to use my PPL hours (which I am very low on). Not only do I have MORE than enough work to do that will last me well past an 11 hour day but I haven't met my weekly hours (40) yet. Am I right in thinking that this is kind of messed up on my boss' part? I understand that time out of work is my responsibility and that if I do miss time I should expect to use PPL, but I am willing to stay the extra time tomorrow to make up for it. Also keep in mind that my boss is always harping on me for not banking enough PPL and always being low.
My boss doesn't care if I work 5 hours one day due to a doc appointment or other personal matter. Her motto "As long as the work gets done, it's not a problem."

Since it sounds like you have enough work to do and aren't just coming in to make up time, seems like your boss is being a bit unreasonable.
Yeah, the boss is definitely being unreasonable.

Same with you, my boss doesnt care when we come and go, as long as the work gets done. She also doesnt mind if we work from home when necessary. For example, my eldest had to go to the doctor today because she has pink eye and therefore cant go to daycare, so I worked from home today. One mark of a good boss is one that understands the need for work/life balance.

Dean Smith Included Every Player He Coached At UNC In His Will
Before he died, he arranged for each of the players he had coached to get a $200 check in the mail, along with the message, "Enjoy a dinner out compliments of Coach Dean Smith":
That's pretty excellent.

Appears to be a gas explosion that caused the fires...

weird, I have a team member who lives in East Village and she hasn't said anything. I wonder how close her apartment is to it.

Wow. That's terrifying. Do fire trucks ever actually make it to the scene in New York? Seems like an impossibility with that traffic.

12 reported injuries, 3 of which reported critical. No FDNY injuries.

The FDNY are the most professional of professional firemen. Seriously, watching them operate is insane. How they can remain calm in these scenarios is mind blowing.

I like at the stops with ground service there are people to line you up and first come gets first dibs on seats. At the State College stop it's a crazy free for all. Doesn't matter if you get there a half hour before the bus or 2 minutes, you have to elbow people out of the way to get a good seat.

Oddly, this is one of the few things L.A. drivers do well. When a first responder vehicle is coming through, everyone pulls over to the side to make way. And then they promptly all nearly crash into each other starting back up.
