Generally, any record is going to have 8 flyovers. The dropoff isn't always consistent from one band (or one album) to the next, but if I get my 3-5 keepers, I'm good.

Example: The first Audioslave record. Three outstanding tracks, one decent track, ten completely derivative songs.
This is why I seldom buy full albums these days... except for the rare occasion when a band drops a true gem (such as Maiden just did with The Book of Souls).

I saw Tool at a Lololalooza. Can't say I recall any other details about them. They were "nu metal?"

Tool is certainly not nu-metal. I don't even like them, but they shouldn't be lumped in with that awful genre.

I could never categorize Tool, though I'm not sure that's a bad thing. I'd rather go by quality, but from what I heard in my limited listening was actually good and more importantly something I could respect. Now, they're not listed in the biggest metal database on the web that has even the most obscure bands, so that tells you something. What I heard myself was a bit of prog and a bit of alt rock/metal.

What is nu metal
**** like Korn, typically not considered as metal by metal people. i won't comment on quality because that's personal taste.

I don't know that I'd consider Disturbed Nu Metal, but that's just me. They sure as hell should never be lumped together with garbage like Avenged Sevenfold. Their latest album, Immortalized, is outstanding.

If you had to categorize them, Tool would definitely be prog metal. But the truth is, they're an entity unto themselves, their own genre. They exist in a space that's utterly unique, and that is simultaneously what makes them great and polarizing.

When I first came into the fold, I just knew the couple songs they had videos for. Good stuff, for sure, but not super compelling. It wasn't until a friend made me listen to every track from 'Ænema' the whole way through that the light clicked on for me.
This actually might be my favorite cover ever.

A7X first couple albums were pretty good.

I'm watching the AMA's and this pop punk band 15 Seconds of something is playing. Is their hit song a cover? It sounds very familiar.
