Correct.Source of the post Corporations certainly raise prices, and often those price increases are based on nothing more than "because we can." But those are price increases, not inflation.

Pretty sure that Kohls got caught doing something similar a few years ago.No, but they are greedy, and have no problem raising the price from $5 to $10, then "lowering" it so $8 doesn't seem so bad.A reminder: corporations do not cause inflation.

"Inflation is the rate of increase in prices over a given period of time."
Right, individual price increases is not 'inflation", but higher prices is like literally the definition of inflation. You don't get to just ignore why the price level is rising.

Cool Ted talk. Are we agreeing yet?Everyone wants the highest price for their goods and services. Would you turn down an offered raise because you don't want to be "greedy"? Would you sell your house for less than the market value because because you don't want to be "greedy"? Of course not.

Also, events other than increasing the money supply cause inflation. Like the supply chain disruptions due to the pandemic and the Saudi's deciding to cut oil production.
There's no question that food manufacturers have raised prices to increase profits.

What is it called when a gas station chain advertises one price in the morning and it mysteriously rises by 28 cents for afternoon rush hour? These stations (Circle K) seem to do this a lot here. The other stations prices stayed basically the same.

I'm not. Businesses making price decisions on individual products certainly represent an increase on the price of a given item. But that does not cause all prices to increase over a given period of time. Inflation is the sustained increase in the price of all goods and services— everything increasing all at the same time. And that is caused by expansion of the money supply, in which each new dollar has less purchasing power than the one before it.

The Koch brothers are widely known to be on the up and up. Of course, what was I thinking. Not to mention how “think tanks” work. Trusting anything a tank puts out is not advisable. While we’re recommending things here’s some recent retrospect about some Think Tanks.Ah yes a Koch founded think tank. Surely they will steer us in the right direction.

You mean like, officially, or just that no one should vote for that person?
As quoted in this AP article, the Trump campaign says they didn't make the video:
https://apnews.com/article/trump-electi ... d19e51f427“This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court,” Karoline Leavitt, the campaign press secretary, said in a statement.

Come on man. I know you understand what a good source is. From the first line of what the Cato Institute describes itself as being it makes it plain as day that there is a strong bias towards a certain way of approaching things. Add in that the Koch brothers helped found and back it and you have something even a freshman in college wouldn’t use as a source.Tell you what. I'll listen to that if you buy the book.

At worst, he sees himself as the new hitler. At best, he and his campaign are EXTREMELY sloppy. Pick where you wanna be on the spectrum.

If there wasn't already a track record of dogwhistles and wink wink, nudge nudge coming from Trump's camp to the fringe right who would eat up the whole Reich rhetoric, this might not be as big a deal.
But we've got, what, 8 years of context to point at and say "Hey, probably shouldn't be saying that stuff" at the very least.
