Just got to the theater for Kingdom of the planet of the Apes and realized that I bought 4DX tickets, where the seats move and **** with the action. Guess I’ll get to see how much I love or hate this.

Hey why not? It worked for T2-3D: Battle Across Time.

There is a button on the seat to turn the water off. So now I wonder if it’s a mist or I’m going to get shot in the face with a super soaker.

I'm going to go ahead and tell you that you will have a bad time.
That way you can come back later on and tell me how wrong I was and that it was the best thing ever.
You're welcome.

****, you’re the contrarian here, not me. I have a feeling that I’ll like the seat movement so long as it’s not constant shaking, but the water thing is probably going to just be annoying. I think they also use fog machines in here.

Must have wind, too. I now see rows of fans on the sides of the theater.

Are you sure you didn't buy tickets for Shrek 4D?
Theaters: "Why aren't people going to the movies anymore"
Everybody: "It's too expensive."
Theaters: "What if we made the chair shake and sprayed water in your face?"

The movie was good. Now, onto 4DX. The biggest issue, by far, was the fact that the seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Imagine an airplane seat without padding. During heavy action sequences, the seats just move way too much, sometimes jarringly. It wasn’t pleasant for those scenes. The back of the seats actually have little pistons in them that prod you. Like, an ape was getting pounded on in the back and this stupid seat is prodding me in the same place. Almost laughed at that one.
It wasn’t all bad, though. One scene following a bird in the sky, you’re basically gliding with it, and the fans make it pretty cool. Actually, I thought the fans were pretty good for the entire movie, and added a nice touch. The water mists were okay, especially during an appropriate scene.
Wouldn’t buy 4DX again intentionally because of the aforementioned issues.

Meh. I’d be more interested in Airheads 2: Lone Rangers Reunion Tour.

I’d love an Airheads 2. The original was fun.

Just watched happy Gilmore again the other night. Holds up. Hopefully the sequel is at least 1/10 as good.

Happy Gilmore is great. The sequel will be terrible.

You know it will happen, but I really hope he doesn't shoehorn his usual crew into it. Get as much of the original cast back as you can and have him get beat up by Drew Carey this time instead.
Movie Thread
I heard him on Dan Patrick talking about it. He mentioned all the people from the first one that had died. Doesn't bode well for bringing back a bunch of characters. He also mentioned he has a role for Dan in it, which also sucks.

Yeah, I probably have a more favorable opinion than most on Sandler, but having this announced the same year Joe Flaherty and Carl Weathers died is just a bummer.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend it.

Shooter is going to be the tour chairman this time around, I assume.

re-watched City of God for the first time in like 12 years last night. Man what a f*ckin movie. It’s like a Guy Ritchie and Scorsese hybrid

The Iron Claw was a disaster. Just a terrible, boring movie.

Yep. Not to mention all of the stuff they changed/got wrong. Also possibly the worst Ric Flair impersonation I've ever seen.Dickie Dunn wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 3:11 pm The Iron Claw was a disaster. Just a terrible, boring movie.

Godzilla x Kong is so god damn stupid and somehow still fun as hell. There are plenty of things to complain about but I'd rather just turn my brain off and enjoy monsters doing monster things.
