Everybody can be happy. I’ll rotate through streaming services as needed and you can sign up for whatever cable package you prefer.

Doesn't that include CNN and Discovery? I don't want those.

Don't forget that HBO (or Max) has been removing some HBO original content and farming it out to other services/ad supported streamers. They shipped Westworld off just a couple weeks after the series finale aired.

It’s the same price as it was for just HBO and you can use the HBO hub to filter out all of that other stuff.

$89/month with Disney and ESPN+. Hmmm. That may as well be cable.

I use expert dark mode for everything non hdr or gaming.
Same.
Same. I need to figure out a fix for this Fios ****.
Well, I found a workaround that didn't involve Verizon and their useless customer service. On my C1: settings > general > devices > HDMI settings > HDMI deep color > Off. That forces the TV into standard 1080 mode instead of HDR. Hockey looks fine now, which is a plus. I'll just need to remember to turn the deep color to 4K whenever I want to watch one of the Verizon 4k channels.

Of course there's another issue now: certain networks that broadcast in 720p including ESPN, ABC, FOX are forced into 30fps despite being broadcast in 60fps. This creates a jittery frame rate that is honestly hard to watch. It's especially noticeable with sports. If I'm watching a game on any of those channels, I'll watch them on the AppleTV. This Fios TV+ has been awful.

Oh and unrelated to TV, the new router reboots itself every day at exactly 12:22 am.

I don't buy a lot of physical media these days so I know I'm part of the problem, but this is still depressing. Best Buy removing all physical media from stores yesterday.

It makes me very very sad. I will always buy physical media in any format I own. Always.

There was a point in time where I'd go to Best Buy every weekend to buy new releases.

Yeah I used to love to go to Best Buy and browse around for a while, normally leaving with a couple new movies. Their physical media took up a ton of floor space. What is going to go there now? iPad cases?

I have a Best Buy right near my house. Every time I go in there I leave empty-handed, yet the place is full of 'stuff.' The last time was for CD-Rs and I had to go to Office Max to get what I needed.

I'm always surprised the BB here in Monroeville is even still open. I've used them for in store pick up on a few things and noticed when I went in..its mostly just open floorspace anyways.

The BB nearest to me has been a guinea pig for revamped in-store 'experiences' for a couple years now. Physical media movies have been more or less non-existent there since maybe late 2022, music.......I actually don't remember the last time I saw music physical media at a BB. Games are still physical-a-plenty. The stores have given over that floor space to bigger footprints for mobile devices and smart home accessories, and things like Dyson vacuums and NordicTrack home fitness equipment. There's also a much bigger camera section than in the past.

Out here, BB owns a small high-end appliance chain called Pacific Sales and they have 20-ish locations where they're co-located inside a BB store. For some reason, they flip-flopped the BB store last year - all the TV stuff moved from right to the back wall, the computers moved from the back wall to the left side, and the PacSales floor moved from left-to-right. It's like they rotated the in-store knob one turn counterclockwise. The appliance part is esp goofy to me, because one of the flagship Pacific Sales standalone showrooms is less than a mile from this BB location. Like, why do you even have the BB location open.
