Keep McCarthy, likely get nothing in return (or get verbal agreements and then no follow through), and allow the house to just continue being useless.

Get rid of McCarthy, watch the GOP get into a new pissing match, get nothing in return, and get all the ammo you need for 2024... "they couldn't even elect a speaker, why should you trust them to be in charge????"

I see no benefit to keeping McCarthy.

I feel bad for this clerk lady. If McCarthy is removed, how many billion more times is she going to have to call the roll for the replacement process.

One potential reason for Dems not joining in these reindeer games is that Biden just launched a new campaign ad (or at least I just became aware of it yesterday) that leans heavily into bipartisan go-along-to-get-along vibes. Shows him breaking bread with Reagan, McCain, Condi Rice, etc. The message is very much "government isn't about getting what's best for me, it's about what's best for the most number of people".

Let the R's eat themselves. Don't participate in the fiasco by supporting the resolution, especially by making any kind of a big deal about it by supporting the resolution to vacate.

Tho I'm still quite hopeful for the day when a Speaker is selected from outside the House membership.

Patrick McHenry is interim speaker, but I don't think he can actually do much until they elect a new speaker. They have to vote, and if it was anything like when McCarthy was put in, we're in for a wild ride.
