I feel like if refs can use judgement to call a goal "immenent" after a whistle similar to rakell earlier this year, they should be able to use that same judgment for an obvious goal despite minimal goalie contact.

Isn’t that exactly what they do with a goalie interference challenge?
Pretty sure it's just a challenge for contact in the crease. The only judgement is who and how the contact was initiated. Guentzel touched him, so no goal. Touching him had no impact on the play, though.

That said, goalie interference calls have always been whacky.
