Reilly Smith is already 32? Thought he was younger than that.

Vegas 3rd leading goal scorer. Solid Zucker replacement.

I texted my SO to tell her about smith and this was the response:
Does this mean we can get rid of the guy we got from Nashville?

It's a 2024 3rd. VGK's 3rd from the Blugers deal.

This is gonna be hard to say...but...I don't view this as a Zucker replacement. I view this as a Heinen vast improvement. And I don't even mean that negatively. I just don't see enough similarities to Zucker to square that up...

I think it's "replacement" as in "probably taking Zucker's spot on the 2nd because someone is going to pay him a ton on Saturday".This is gonna be hard to say...but...I don't view this as a Zucker replacement. u like, @crusherstasiak?

I don't think Zucker is staying, so my definition of replacement is that Zucker is gone and Smith plays the second line to get points, not that he plays like him.

I dont find them to be that dissimilar. I like smith more though. Never cared much for zucker, though he did win pittsbirgh over with one good 12 game stretch in January of a non-playoff season

No, yeah, sure, I get that...I'm just saying that I think older Smith is gonna not resemble Zucker too much...but we'll see what happens here...
I think this is a good deal for us...it also helps tell you what Dubas thinks of the free agent market...

I don't want to invest in Zucker - because he's basically Hornqvist way way way lite. All that money for IR time.

Rightfully so. 2x5 is a lot more palatable than the 5x5 or more you'd have to pay a comparable or worse player

Oh, I don't know about that Hornqvist stuff...but I do agree that 2x5 makes more sense than 5x5 or 4x6 or whatever...

He replaces Zucker's goals, so in that sense, it makes sense. Adding a player for very little cost - this is a good move.
The Pens struggled at finishing their chances last season, so maybe Smith helps in this area a little.

Yeah, exactly...having a mid-range shooter like this is really an important point about all of this, especially with Zucker likely not coming back, Heinen not likely coming back, etc.
