The 2023 4th round pick can upgrade to a 3rd round pick if Carter plays in at least 50% of the Penguins 2020-21 playoff games.

Carter is playing RW now, I'm not sure he couldn't provide some center support though in a pinch...he's still got the hockey sense, he's still got that bomb of a shot...he's a big body, and while he doesn't really bury anyone, he does a real nice job setting picks, setting up the wall to get inside positioning near the net, he does a nice job going to the net...his wheels aren't the same, but at the top end, after three strides he can still move...he's just not as quick and explosive as he once was...

He's a guy that can push some other players down the lineup card, which is what you try to do...you don't try to add fourth liners, you make your own third liners into fourth liners by adding players like this...

I think I saw that we could possibly benefit from the cap recapture if he retires after the season, so that's really interesting...I wonder if that's what the 2023 pick is conditional on actually...

I posted the conditions on the previous page but it got lost in the shuffle of arguing about threads.

I do like the trade more and more by the minute. People that think he becomes a full time center are wrong, but he does help make a real life top 9.
