Well for starters your list in the other post is weird and gross. Nobody is taking Hoffman over Rust - even ignoring the gap in character.

But yeah, ok. I don’t mind the way you calculate #1. But then there would never be 31 1Rws or 1D. Which isn’t my favorite way to look at it. But on the other hand, we won the cup without a 1D in 17 even though Dumo was our 1D. But he’s not a 1D.

...I have a hankering to say 1D or 1C means something more sacred than 1RW though. But I think we’re good here.

You assume a gap in character because of some weird **** his wife did...fine. As a hockey player - which was the question - he's definitely better than Rust. I mean, that kind of shot is just such an elite level trait that you can't pass it up in a 1 to 1 match. It's too much. I left guys like Bjorkstrand in the possibly category because he's real just a shooter...but Hoffman can help in transition, he can beat players 1 on 1, so that's the difference.

You can easily find players that do what Rust did his whole career accept the last, like, 70 games playing with HOFers...Tyler Kennedy was a 4th round pick, Tanev wasn't even drafted...you can find players whose best attribute is skating, there are factories that produce them. In fact, the league became so flush with them, that league quality actually dipped for a time last decade...

1 D and 1 C is definitely more valuable than 1 RW...wingers are the least valuable players out there, they do the least, they skate the least, they have the least area to cover...

If my list is bad, that means the majority of it is bad I presume...meaning, this group thinks Bryan Rust is, what, a top 15 RW in the NHL...? That's putting a lot of weight on one non-full season for me...and it's not even like it jives with the talent level...

I can't even imagine what names we're taking off the definite list to stick Bryan Rust, Bryan Rust in there...

I honestly can’t be too mad about this. When a should be healthy scratch is centering your second line.....you got some injury issues

If all we got is two top-10 point producers at their position since 2019 being the list breaker for, again, Bryan Rust, of all players...then I don't know what to tell ya...watch some other teams, man...you're missing some great hockey if Rust is near the top of your list for best at his position haha

I really did want to know if he was top 30. He still might not be.

But Kessel was dragging down his line for 4 months out of the year, which is not being a “driver”. And he’s so good, the return for him was a guy who’s just about out of the league.

So...I still don’t know how good rust is because of my ignorance. But because of ^ I know your list is not great. Or good.
